Caught a second viewing of Dig! on IFC this week, and it became extraordinarily clear that Brian Jonestown Massacre is so superior to the Dandy Warhols in every which way, even if the band has been fucked up since the dawn of time. Classic/Dud has already been done, but what 5 tracks would you pick?
Mine:
A new low in getting high
Open Heart Surgery
Nevertheless
Wisdom
Ballad of Jim Jones

i) Ballad of Jim Jones
ii) Cold To The Touch
iii) Going To Hell
iv) Got My Eye On You
v) Swallowtail
I don't know if I would say that they are better than the Dandy Warhols. They're each good in their own respect, but I do have more respect for Massacre after the terrible new Warhols album.

lets make a deal that no one is allowed to talk about how good the bjm is after watching that damn movie. im sick of hearing from people every couple of month about how "great" that is.

What makes Dig so funny is that neither band is as anywhere near good as they think they are.

So what do you do?
Oh yeah I wait tables too.
No I haven’t heard your band,
Cause you guys are pretty new.
But if you dig on vegan food,
Well come over to my work,
I’ll have them cook you something that you’ll really love,
Cause I like you,
Yeah, I like you,
And I’m feelin so bohemian like you,
Yeah, I like you,
Yeah, I like you,
And I feel wahoo, wooo
Really, no one is the winner here.
