Secondhand prices: Gabba >> UK Hardcore >> Acid House - why?

This perplexes me every time I buy secondhand stuff online. Acid is older and one would think more collectable, yet you can pick up relatively rare acid records for under $20. But most old school UK hardcore goes for around $30-50 and some of the gabba goes up to $75.

Is this just a function of the numbers of records pressed? i.e. Acid had a market in the US and in Europe therefore more copies were made of each tune, whereas UK hardcore was UK only and Gabba was an even smaller market? Or is it because there are fewer gabba reissues, whereas acid is fairly comprehensively compiled?

It's related to rarity, I'm sure (which obv has something to do with the size of each scene.) Hardcore and acid have been repressed a bit which has driven some of the prices down, I don't believe that's as much the case with gabba.

I guess it's because there's still a huge audience for hardcore (gabber), lots of producers/raves/compilations/etc, so it's a case of many DJ's going after few records (everyone needs a few classics in their bag). The acid scene OTOH has become much much smaller over the years, so supply > demand. UK hardcore is at the moment more in the curator/collector stage.
