TS: Paul Haig vs The Happy Family

I know it is like asking, "ts: syphilis vs gonorrhea," but I was listening to the Happy Family and wondering to myself which is held in lower regard.

Paul Haig is probably the winner for his career being a horrible (and long) stage exit whereas Nick Curry emerged from the (very brief) Happy Family to make great stuff immediately after. But Paul Haig's records kick ass on the Happy Family ones on visual grounds. (He definitely had a good eye for choosing cover models.) So, since I rarely have the desire to listen to either and would rather just look at them, I'm gonna take Mr Haig's side in the end.

Ah, it's back working again. Sorry.

Well, I love many of Paul Haig's solo songs.

Running Away/Time, Blue For You, Never Give Up (Party Party), Heaven Help You Now, Chance, Big Blue World, The Only Truth are all good to great, all fun.

And a few of those get more respect then you may realize.

I've never heard Happy Family though.

It's not been released yet, and probably never will be, but I recently heard Paul Haig's remix of JD's 'Atmosphere'. He turned it into a soaring Ibiza dance anthem. It's utterly bizarre to hear and quite good with it.

how does one hear that?

Through the Internets, I guess.

No, you'll not find this one out there. A friend of mine is Haig's manager. He got a demo of this track and played it to me in his car. I'll ask about getting a copy of it to share on here but I wouldn't hold your breath. Still, if it's never going to be released he might not mind it being spread across the internet.. and I doubt it'll get a release date, it's too.. strange. Joy Division gone filterdiscovocalhouse.

Update: apparently Mark (or Lard) of BBC Radio fame got hold of this track and played it the other night. It got a good reaction so they're planning on getting the track out to a few bloggers, writers and DJs before recording it properly and setting a release date. When I get the mp3 I'll mail it over to you Dan, and anyone else who wants it. (but please don't spread it over the p2ps as Haig & co. don't want that).

Sorry for derailing the thread too.
