sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 04:48 (twenty years ago)

...wait, Dangermouse? The fuck? Wasn't it supposed to be Pearson and Paul Epworth?

telephone thing, Tuesday, 7 March 2006 04:54 (twenty years ago)

I mean, the DM & Jemini album is all right, and the Gnarls Barkley album has me excited on the strength of "Crazy" and the leaked tracks, but wtf.

"Friends, Fans, Lovers, As of now we are officially in the studio. Recording on the isle of Manhattan at an undisclosed location with a crack team of Super Producers and Engineers with oversized craniums. And really that's all I can tell you. We are keeping the details on the hush for now. So I expect to see all sorts of conjecture on the message board dealing with this mystery. In time I'll give you some hints or maybe, just maybe I'll let you know flat out. That is if you can keep me entertained. That's right folks, this relationship is a 2 way street. I would like to say that I am damn excited about this and can pretty much promise you a fantastic record, no... actually a stupendous album. Pretty much the best album of the century. Oh yeah, the cover is going to totally rule as well. I'm not kidding around, I don't have a sense of humour, ask anyone. My goal is to make something very nice for you and your friends, hopefully keeping you entertained in this cruel and unfair world. On behalf of the Rapture Gabriel S. Andruzzi." Since this message was written those Super Producers names have been leaked and confirmed. Step forward Paul Epworth, Ewan Pearson and Danger Mouse. We just wanted to tell you guys first before everybody else. Which is what we'll try to do all the way with music, and videos and tour news and stuff. To watch a video compilation from The Rapture show late last year(which only went and got voted Best Gig of 2005 by New York Magazine!)

Snapture (GALKIN), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 04:56 (twenty years ago)

the paul epworth track i heard was really good. mr. rymer, are you still in new york, and do you have any dj gigs?

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 05:00 (twenty years ago)

That was not really ben, that was me. i wa just being a little silly and hoping ben would be popping up soon. ben is still in NY but not sure about dj gigs. I believe he is just laying down vocals on a track called...get this - Ben Rymer by The Rapture. and Telephone Thing: Dangermouse also did Gorillaz....DFA has nothing to do with this release whatsoever so it is interesting to be just watching and waiting!

GALKIN (GALKIN), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 05:06 (twenty years ago)

*smacks forehead* Dunno how I forgot to mention Demon Days...I loved that album, actually. I'm still worried about whether DM's production style will work with the Rapture.

OH SNAPTURE

continues the continuation of the continuous continuity (haitch), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 05:29 (twenty years ago)

More to the point EWAN PEARSON????

So are we to expect bombastic streamlined electro-glamness?

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 08:53 (twenty years ago)

that ewan pearson remix of i need your love was wondrous. i don't see how this is a bad thing.

nebbesh (nebbesh), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 09:15 (twenty years ago)

Here are the omens: 'DARE' plus 'I Need Your Love' Stay In School Mix plus Annie - 'Me Plus One' Rapture Hush Hush Mix.

This album has no excuses.

BARMS, Tuesday, 7 March 2006 10:58 (twenty years ago)

are these good or bad omens?

GALKIN (GALKIN), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 14:25 (twenty years ago)

I'll go kill a seagull

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 14:29 (twenty years ago)

where's Nick Sylvester when you need him?

Beaty DNA (abeta), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 14:32 (twenty years ago)

Ok the seagull's entrails say

Ewan Pearson finally realises his dream of becoming the DFA.

dance selzer said on one of the other rapture thread that one of the new tracks sounds like go-go... maybe dangermouse will be helping them belt that into shape?

this album will rool.

electrogrouse (haitch), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 15:09 (twenty years ago)

lol @ dance selzer

midi sanskrit (sanskrit), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 15:12 (twenty years ago)

i think he said it sounded like the go-go's.

GALKIN (GALKIN), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 15:41 (twenty years ago)

it sounded like going to a go-go, everybody.

no, I said "go go", like Chuck Brown and Trouble Funk.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:28 (twenty years ago)

we have seen the enemy, and he is Bustin' Loose?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 16:31 (twenty years ago)

How can this fail? Could be a little all over the shop but in a good way. Colour me excited. Off on a tangent, I'm sure that Ben Rymer was in Manchester the other day, kicking it as Gucci Soundsystem with Henry 'Riton' Smithson, and not in NY as people keep saying he is?

yer mam! (yer mam!), Tuesday, 7 March 2006 17:04 (twenty years ago)

That's not the email that I got...

Is it true that Daddy Yankee will be on two tracks?!
