what are they planning to do with dare for it's 25th birthday ?
and whatever became of the martin rushent expanding dare ? ( i prefer the word expand rather than remix in this instance)
and will ministry of sound NOT remix the thing (as they own the rights to one third of the human league's back catalogue - which is rather frightening)

widely available as 'love and dancing' or something, eg as part of the 21st anniversary double-cd.

I'm sure Virgin will chuck out another reissue of Dare to cash in on the 25th anniversary. The 21st anniversary edition with love and dancing bundled in is pretty good.

love and dancing was widely available as a mini lp in 1982. there was talk of martin rushent doing something with dare a few years ago and no, not for the love and dancing thing.

Did he not have a big falling out with them after Fascination?

While I love "Dare," it's nowhere near as good as "Rumours." Very few records are.

does that mean Blue Monday is the 80's Stayin Alive

is "just can't enough" similar to "popcorn" similar to "wipeout " ?

I think Rumours sold a few more copies than Dare.

wow, Dare never even went platinum.

Not trying to be snoddy here, just trying to understand the reason for the thread title, since it hasn't been explained.

First off, I don't think Rumours sounded anywhere near as groundbreaking in its time as Dare. Just can't see why we're linking the albums at all.

If by middle-aged popular cultural impact, commerical success and ubiquitousness, then no, at least not in the USA (where it pretty much begins and ends with "Don't You Want Me"). I would have to give that dubious honor to 'Brothers in Arms' or maybe 'Graceland' or 'The Joshua Tree'.

for rushent goodness (if you liked his work on dare) seek out pete shelly's homospaien / telephone operator and basically all the rushent produced shelley tracks. also altered images. seriously - the i could be happy 12" version is nothing short of brilliant.

five years pass...

Is "Seconds" about John Lennon or JFK? Chronology would suggest the former (Lennon was shot a little less than one year before "Dare" was released), but I am also hearing a lot of JFK references there.

Or maybe, in some tricky way, it was about both?
