Juicy J seems like a nice guy.

Yeah, absolutely! That's probably one of the most genuinely engaging interviews I've read in the past year.

Yeah, I just read through that before lunch, and ... he sounds like he's still riding high on a general wave of "holy shit we won an Oscar" love. Like everything's just wonderful in the world of Juicy J and he has nothing but good feeling for the entire rest of the universe. For a second it seems like maybe he's just being polite about certain things, but then no, it turns out to be genuine enthusiasm.

The only criticism he has of anything is the bit about MTV, which is like:

They're not showing a lot of love right now. :(
But we just keep it rolling now. :)

dan bunnybrain (dan bunnybrain), Monday, 13 March 2006 21:44 (twenty years ago)

I was also impressed with 3-6 when they changed their lyrics for the Oscars. I remember a quote saying that they would change all the lyrics if the oscars asked them to.

With the last album, you moved away from the heavy keyboards, and you used a lot of old soul samples

With all due respect, they used three. All three of them from Willie Hutch, two of which (in "Stay Fly" and "Don't Cha Get Mad") are taken from the same Willie Hutch LP, 1973's Fully Exposed. It's not quite digging in the crates...

JoB (JoB), Monday, 13 March 2006 23:56 (twenty years ago)

with all due respect paul & juice sampled old soul since the 90s (including willie hutch numerous times - he was even featured on project pat's 2002 layin da smack down)

yeah I always thought it was weird that Tom keeps saying that Three 6 suddenly switched to soul samples as if they never had before, I'm not even as much of a fan as he is and I knew that wasn't right. still he's done plenty of hip hop interviews on PF before, the mock outrage of this thread is wack.

I read an interview with them a while back that they were really cool with Willie Hutch, so.....um.....yeah.

alex in baltimore:

it is wack and i regretted it almost instantly but you have to understand that the only three 6 mafia i have ever heard is 'da unbreakables' chopped & screwed by michael watts, plus stay fly on the radio. so when my context for a group is them rapping about 'bin laden weed' and threatening violence on just about everybody with the whole song played at 3/4 speed and then they win an oscar and then they get interviewed on this wonderbread teen-pop music website, i got spooked.

I am intrigued by your ideas. Where do they come from? What is it like there?
