1. 5 days to go! Here's a reminder of what it's all about.

2. To the people who've asked me if I got their entry - yes I did.

3. Please send as text within e-mail if possible - I can open modern word documents on my primitive PC but the copy gets spliced with all sorts of spare characters.

4. Please indicate what the e-mail is so I know it's not a virus!

The entries have started to roll in a bit faster - 22 so far. The more I get, the more fun it is for the people taking part! Thanks to everyone who's submitted so far...

I really want to do this, but I've been having killer writer's block for a while now- I'm going to try and just splurge something onto the page and hope for the best, I think. I'm also hoping to do a C90 Go! soon. Actually, maybe I should ask now- I'm not sure what tape I'm going to do yet, but it crossed my mind that possibly I could do a mammoth special one, as my best friend has been making me a series called Stereo Wars since my sixteenth birthday (The latest one is very tenuous, it's called A Lack Of The Ramones, hehe). I was thinking of calling it something cheesy like "The Tapes Were A Way To Her Heart: A Friendship On Cassette" (the first bit being a bit from a Comet Gain song, natch). Whaddya think- too long? Too stupid? I should just throw myself off a bridge instead?

emil.y, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

mo emily , it sounds fascaniting. I am as well considering doing a c90go , from either Geoff,Samantha or Arthur depending on who gets me first

anthony, Tuesday, 12 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

My C90 piece is stalled...500 words on the profoundness of Poison. Offering their souls for the entertainment of the Gods of rock. Hell, I'll submit it anyway, and Tom can decide what to do with it :)

jel --, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Can you give us a few of the records you already got reviews for? (just curious what people are reviewing.)

Dave225, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Certainly not! That's the surprise!

Quite a lot of left-field rock, from memory.

Tom, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've got a choice of three C90go! articles to pick from, I'll make up my final mind this weekend probably. Shucks.

Rob M, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What's c90go! ?

dan, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Also some little-girl-pop (you got mine, right?)

Sterling Clover, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes

Tom, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

C90Go! - read "The Rules" on the right-hand column.

Tom, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Please avoid the content to the left of the right-hand column.

Andy K, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Can the self-deprication PLEASE stop? I mean, really, we all know we suck, so it should be a given. Picking at a zit only makes it worse.

Daver, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Blimey, Dave -- sorry!

Andy K, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm reviewing a quirky pop record.

jel --, Wednesday, 13 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I believe I've found a POP record more hellish for Tom than Helen Love (except he likes Daphne and Celeste, so who knows).

Graham, Thursday, 14 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What's the new deadline for 102, Tom? (I've sent mine in, but am trying to persuade someone else to participate.)

Jeff W, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Shite I didn't put the extended deadline - Wednesday please!

Tom, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

When will the stuff be published on Freaky Trigger, Tom?

alex in mainhattan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I was about to choose Felix Da Housecat and then I thought better of it and realised Jon Carters mix CD was the one to choose, largely because people don't seem to know it here. Or maybe you all just think it's shit and are being polite. So I wrote a lame few words on that.......

Ronan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This self-deprecation disease is obviously spreading. [Mine's shit as well, everybody. Alright? ;-)] Also, no more spoilers pl.

Jeff W, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It won't go up until I get back from holiday, so most likely the first weekend in April, Alex. But I'm going to start work on it before I leave so it can go up ASAP after.

Tom, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How many entries so far?

nathalie, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I lost count :) Not 102 (although getting 102 was never the idea I'd feel somehow obliged to stop if I did) - 50-ish?

Tom, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn, has someone done Helen Love. I was gonna give that a go. It's either that or Scoundrel Days.

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

HL = U&K

Graham, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronan - do you mean the Jon Carter's Washing album? I can't find it anywhere, used to love it. What's the name of the 'thumping' track about the jungle ('inna_jungle') - track 11 perhaps?

nick.K, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn, has someone done Helen Love.
I hope so for her!

Nathalie, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually Nick it's the 7 Magazine Jon Carter/Junior Cartier one I meant. It's from 2000. The big famous tracks on it would be Azzido Da Bass-Dooms Night Timo Maas remix, in fairness he was onto it like a shot because it didn't get popular till a while after.

Also West Street Mobs Electro Boogie Jon Carter remix, pretty well known. And Felix Da Housecats Enter Lite/Exit Nite.

I haven't heard the Washing Machine album you mentioned, the other one I have is his Live at the Social Vol 2. (2 I think). It's kind of a hiphop and breaks set. Pretty good, but since he's found house music he's unstoppable.

Ronan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Washing album must = figment of my imagination - it has some fantastic ragga (Genacide2's Narramine) bouncin' in and out of house and early 90s 'ardcore. But no one believes me, not even google. Oh yeah, FT..... erm... you got mine, right? If not, mail and I'll resend

nick.K, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah I've got everyone's who's asked so far.

Tom, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually I'm really sorry Tom I sent it to your ebros address. Did you get it?

Ronan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes I got it. All my email addresses work, it's just sometimes the dial-up doesn't work properly and I can't get mail from any of them.

Tom, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I asked this in my email but didn't hear back so I'm guessing the answer is no: would you take multiple entries from us to get the total of reviews up to 102?

Sean Carruthers, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi - Sean, the answer is no (sorry for not replying). It would cause hassle at the lots-drawing stage if there were multiple entries, and it was never a goal to get 102 entries anyway, just to get as many as possible.

Tom, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Just sent one in - hope it's not too late.

o. nate, Wednesday, 20 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

two weeks pass...
It won't go up until I get back from holiday, so most likely the first weekend in April,
Sorry to bother you again, Tom. Will "102 beats that" go online next weekend then? And did you get my contribution, a crappy review of a great album?

alex in mainhattan, Monday, 8 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

two months pass...
When is the deadline for the Round Two contribution? It should be coming up pretty soon, right?

o. nate, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have to send mine still, I'm so so sorry. My CD I mean. Where's that sheepish emoticon gone.

Ronan, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

:-baaa

mark s, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronan you mean Stevie Nicksish emoticon.

Andy K, Tuesday, 11 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So when is the damn deadline??

Dare, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmm, I got an email a while back that said June 9! So, congrats, we're all incredibly lazy and forgetful.

dleone, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oops! Sorry i missed the deadline tom. I've been busy but...no excuse!

Julio Desouza, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We're getting there with reply entries. Part 2 will go up when we've got the material for it, simple as that. Expect harassing emails in a week or so, those of you who've not written to me yet.

Tom, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Whew! For once I got it in on time!

Sean Carruthers, Wednesday, 12 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

OK Tom, expect mine this weekend. The deadline crept up on me.
