that is totally insane. i can understand paying prices that are so much higher than the norm for art, because there isn't a very good way to reproduce most art (or if there is, as with photography, it isn't done widely), but for music, i sssssssssssssssssss

god

The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale.

So... they're now bidding privately, out of the public eye? Or did it just stop? (item hasn't been relisted on eBay yet, as far as I can see)

don't be too impressed. it was almost certainly fake bids. the seller is selling a record that doesn't exist.

(along with everything else they're selling)

That Belgian seller is a fraud. I could have known. (rolleyes smiley)

StanM (StanM), Thursday, 16 March 2006 09:26 (twenty years ago)

those wacky belgians

Well, some of us. The ones that speak french. (*runs away*)

StanM (StanM), Thursday, 16 March 2006 09:34 (twenty years ago)

Right, so "Seller" auctions a disc that doesn't exist, so a couple of 'knowledgeable' collectors issue 'ridiculous' bids to punish the seller, as they would naturally assume someone is trying to get a bunch off money via paypal, then nicking off with it...

(Seller's feedback is 'private' but only one feedback entry for the previous year)

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 16 March 2006 09:39 (twenty years ago)

yes.

(and if I'd clicked on your link, I'd have worked it out that little bit quicker. But hey, it's nice to know you can work out the story from the evidence)

Entire 225-item virtual store was fake, with close to one thousand different bids canceled. Also I have been fired from the Village Voice. Hope you at least got the smile I did out of it...thanks all.
