My favorite band ever. Aside from their obvious hot streak in the late 60s/early 70s, Out of Our Heads is one of my favorite records. Mick does a respectable job on Otis' "That's How Strong My Love Is."

Read True Adventures of the Rolling Stones if you haven't already. Magnificent book.

Melanie did a far superior version and that was rotten too.

not to hijack this thread or anything, but is "satanic majesties' request" any good? also, does the ruby tuesday chain of restaurants make any reference to the song? i've never been inside one.

They sound drunk when they sing the refrain. I think that makes it even better though...

Satanic Majesty's is excellent. Not quite on par with their other records of the era, but "2000 Man," "She's A Rainbow" and several other tracks are great. It definitely received an unfair critical drubbing.

The Ruby Tuesday restaurants are filled with waiters who speak unintelligably. They also routinely announce that they are shutting down, only to open yet another "farewell" restaurant.

Satanic Majesties thread.

I like Satanic Majesties a lot, and don't get the bad rap the album gets. It's always dismissed as the Stones try and do Sgt. Pepper, but Sgt. Pepper only has "A Day in the Life" going for it, Satanic has "Sing This All Together","Citadel", "2000 Man", "She's A Rainbow" and "2000 Light Years From Home".

Good song, slightly sappy for my tastes. I MUCH prefer "Under My Thumb."

have i ever told my drunkenly-requesting- under-my-thumb-to-shit-british-band story on ilm?

one month passes...
Satanic probably isn't the Stones' best, but 2000 Man is incredible... it's featured in the movie Bottle Rocket (but not on the soundtrack). That song, plus Rainbow, make it worth the cash.

It's great in 'The Royal Tenenbaums' (have we done a thread abt this movie anywhere?)
