Dakota Suite. Where to start.

I love the Red House Painters and know that Dakota Suite make very similar sad/slow-core music. As far as I know they have released six discs up to now:
- Way I Am Sick (the new one)
- Morning Lake Forever (EP, what I heard sounded very good)
- Signal Hill
- Songs for a Barbed Wire Fence
- Navigator's Yard
- Alone with Everybody

Which is the best record to start with?

Idaho, "Three Sheets to the Wind."

Alone with Everybody. It's a singles comp. Rather good.

Idaho, "Three Sheets to the Wind."
Rubbish. The Idaho to start with would be the first. "Year after Year". Absolutely brilliant depressive music. What a voice as well.

I'd go with Signal Hill. Haven't heard the new one yet.

one year passes...
I was just told that Chris Hooson was very ill and may have passed away. Can anyone confirm or deny (hopefully the latter)?

i've not heard about Chris passing away but the last message on his website is way depressing.

well I've spoken to someone else who did receive email from him in the past few days so that's a promising sign, but he hasn't responded to any from me. So I don't know.

what's he actually ill with?

I was told he had cancer. Keep in mind this was second hand so I don't know, the story might have gotten screwed up or something. But this came from someone else from Leeds.

Okay, I've gotten a denial of sorts from someone who would know, who insists he's fine. So, don't trust any random lawyer from Leeds.

six years pass...

I keep picking up their albums in the store, gaze at the covers before putting them down. What kind of music is this? And what should I check out?
