scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 30 March 2006 16:13 (twenty years ago)

It's about what I would expect!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 March 2006 16:16 (twenty years ago)

First single would probably by Rock On

kornrulez6969 (TCBeing), Thursday, 30 March 2006 16:21 (twenty years ago)

I wonder if they'll try to out-baggy the Mondays with the Kongos song...

the only one I'm moderately curious about is the ELO one...the others, you kinda know what they'll sound like...

I have to admit thought. It feels kind of good that the band had some decent taste.

Def Leppard always got unfairly slagged because of their contemporaries. They were always glammier and artier than given credit for. Except for their lyrics, but those were usually indecipherable. And, they looked like a bunch of yahoos. They should do an album with Brian Eno.

I'd love to hear the "Street Life" cover.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn (Alfred Soto), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 15:13 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe it's cos I'm tired and stupid, but I don't think I like any of those songs as much as I like 'Photograph'. 'Rock On' is such an exact template for a lot of their other songs though, I wonder why I'd never thought of that before.

Nice track listing, but even that can't interest me in listening to this (and I've definitely gone through pro-Lep phases). I just don't see how you can do glam cover nowadays and have it sound fresh (unless you totally reinvent it somehow).

That list:

They had me hooked by 10538.

The rest are bonusses.

Haven't heared it, but:

Looking forward to:
10538 Overture
20th Century Boy
He’s Gonna Step On You Again

Can't imagine:
Drive-In Saturday
Stay With Me
Street Life
Rock On

Can guess:

No Matter What
Don’t Believe A Word
Hell Raiser
Little Bit Of Love

Dont care for:

Hanging On The Telephone (can only be ruination)
Waterloo Sunset (also)
The Golden Age Of Rock & Roll (Not Mott's best. Or is it? I can only remember a bit of it...)

maybe I should seriously consider that July 4th Def Leppard/Journey show at the local amphitheater after all

Stingy (stingy), Wednesday, 24 May 2006 15:17 (nineteen years ago)

I didn't know a lot of these songs as such before but the cd is probably the most rocking one they have had for some time. They have always done a good job with cover songs. I like it. There are also a few bonus cds available with extra songs from certain places
