It's been done twice before though with 'Martin' and 'Here Is The Young Man'. They may as well have done a definitive job this time and included New FADS, The High, Kissing The Pink,Crispy Ambulance, Blue In Heaven,Freshies, Minny Pops,ACR, Stone Roses, etc etc...but good to see SXXV and Pauline Murray included this time.

whaa ... this was hannett? good god almighty, i never knew that. how did i not know this? i love hannett. i love the kitchens. this is like some weird synaptic misfire.
i have everything here (some of it several times over) except the only ones, but i'll buy it simply to have "she's a rainbow" on CD. greatest perfect-pastiche cover-version EVER.
i'm also going to buy the "hacienda hits" 3CD box, or whatever it's called ;)

'Tis a little-known fact, but in the early days the various members of Joy Divison all regularly used to affect Berkshire accents and pretend to be from Tilehurst, in order to enhance the band's credibility and an air of authenticity to their post-industrial gloom.

Before becoming Frank Sidebottom, Chris Sievey was in a band called The Freshies, where he wrote a song called "I'm In Love With The Girl On The Reading Butts Centre Our Price Records Checkout Desk" (although he was later obliged to revise the title somewhat for legal reasons).

Listen Records (which used to be opposite the top the of the escalator - there was some hippy clothes shop there last time I looked, right next to where all those food stalls are now) was always a much better record shop, but all the staff were male and not particularly atractive....
