"Ghosts of Princes in Towers" just gets better and better, but Allmusic sez the rest of the album is shit. Sad.

why u trust 1 review? bad bad! Allmusic not god.
I saw other reviews of it that were really good. Never heard it though, just that 1 track.

But missionary say Allmusic is God. He says if we upset the God, that is Allmusic, we on island do not recieve "Gnarls Barkley mp3". We on island had to burn old God (Q Magazine) for new God.

i disagree with Allmusic. that album is great...except for a few songs they could've done without.

"why u trust 1 review?"

Why trust any review. Hear it for yourself!

Good luck...

The album's actually pretty good, plenty of other tracks just as good as the title track: "Strange One"; "Hung On You"; "Marching Men"; "Put You In The Picture"; "Young Girls"; "Bullet Proof Lover"; "Rich Kids"; "Lovers And Fools"; "Burning Sounds"....

If you'll take my advice 'though, you really shouldn't buy it (and in particular you should avoid the horribly muddy original vinyl pressing like the plague).

What you should buy is The Best Of The Rich Kids, which contains the whole of the album, in the original order, plus all the non-album singles and B-sides ("Only Arsenic" in particular is great) and a bunch of unreleased stuff.

Buy *I Didn't See It Coming* by The Professionals instead!

scott seward (scott seward), Saturday, 1 April 2006 21:34 (nineteen years ago)

Absolutely not.

Buy I Didn't See It Coming by The Professionals as well.

Oh, and in this instance do buy I Didn't See It Coming and don't be tempted by The Best Of The Professionals, which (for no apparent reason - it certainly isn;t time / space limitations) omits several tracks from I Didn't See It Coming; actually contains fewer tracks than the expanded CD version of I Didn't See It Coming; generally seems to be more expensive than I Didn't See It Coming; and (unless maybe there are some really substantial improvements in sound quality cf: I Didn't See It Coming?) appears to be entirely pointless.

So very true, glad to know about the cd re-issue. Haven't heard this in many years, but I think "Marching Men" was my favourite.

I got that Professionals album last year and it sounds like ass -- the recording, performance, lyrics. I usually like that kind of stuff, but haven't been motivated for repeat listenings yet.

three years pass...

I love the whole of "Ghosts Of Princes In Towers", it's the only time Midge sounds like he has a pair.

There's a collection of Matlock sung demos, some great live tracks and second album demos called "Burning Sounds" that's actually pretty damn interesting.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Tuesday, 15 September 2009 15:26 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, Midge writes another song called "Forever and ever" if I recall correctly...
