for them what have it…

so there are four discs: one with the first two lineups, and then three made up of "Chrissie and whoever is around" and post '84 stuff I've never been impressed with…

what i want know about is the DVD: how much of it is rare live footage of my boys Jimmy Honeyman-Scott, Pete Farndon and Martin Chambers tearin' it up? and how much involves the Robbie MacIntosh band? is that shit great? should i lay $$$ down just for that?

I'd like to know too.

Post-1984 her songwriting is as strong as ever; to these ears only Get Close sounds compromised, like she wants her songs to be as unsurprising as the production.

I always liked the two instrumentals on the b-side of "Brass in pocket"

Guess they aren't on this box, right?

Supposedly, all the non-Boxed set b-sides will be bonus tracks when the original albums are reissued a la the Bunnymen / X / Talking Heads stuff. Yeah, the two instrumentals from "Brass In Pocket" are not on the box.

The DVD contains 8 videos with the original line-up, a few more with the MacIntosh band. I like it a lot, but the real value of the set (for me) is some of the unreleased stuff and that it does an excellent job of collecting the best moments of the spottier late-period stuff - even their last few albums had a couple of killer. When the CDs are reissued on CD, I'll get the first three, and with this box I'll have everything I need.

one mo' question for Dee: is the original lineup stuff live or just videos?

Neither really, it's mostly footage from television shows like "Fridays," "Top Of The Pops" and so forth - live, I guess, but with variables under control. There are a couple of "yruly live" videos, but I think only one from the original line-up. There are no MTV-type pre-filmed videos; in other words, the tunes are in different versions than the studio ones.

I should mention that there are 19 videos total, all of them at least mildly entertaining, but some from much more recent versions of the band.
