EIGHT OF rock's hottest bands have contributed to a special re-recording of Metallica's Master Of Puppets in celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the classic album's release.
Remastered, which features exclusive recordings by Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium, Fightstar, Machine Head, Funeral For A Friend, Chimaira, Mastodon and Mendeed - will be given away free with Kerrang! issue 1102, which goes on sale April 5!
"Master Of Puppets is a flawless, inspirational and hugely influential album - we're incredibly proud of Re-Mastered, which is the most exciting free CD in the magazine's history. Put simply, EVERY Kerrang! reader needs to hear this album." - Paul Brannigan, Kerrang! Editor
"We're really happy with our version of Welcome Home (Sanitarium) and I'm sure when Lars and the guys hear it they'll think we've done them proud!" - Matt Tuck, Bullet For My Valentine
"It's a real honour to be part of this. James Hetfield is one of the most inspirational players ever. He's the main reason I perform and I play the way I do." - Matt Heafy, Trivium
"We we wanted our track to be as fucking heavy as possible. I hope hardcore Metallica fans will like what we've done." - Charlie Simpson, Fightstar
"It's awesome to think that some of you guys weren't even born when we recorded Master Of Puppets! We're honoured that it's a record that's perceived as a milestone and a record that's been so inspiring to so many people. We're as excited to hear this as you guys are!" - Lars Ulrich, Metallica, from his exclusive sleeve note.
Anyone heard this? I'm only interested in the Mastodon track really.

At least they do cover Mastodon though.
Is Metal Hammer any good these days? I used to like it back when grunge broke because it covered a lot of alternative stuff that Kerrang actually ignored at the time, but then it seemed to be all nu-metal after that so I gave up.

I did actually buy this Kerrang for the Mastodon track, and it is seriously fucking good. Probably just about worth the £1.99 expenditure, though the whole 'having a kerrang around the house' aspect is somewhat of a downside.
