Australian outfit The Sleepy Jackson are to return with their first album in three years in the summer.

'Personality' is the follow-up to 2003's acclaimed 'Lovers'. It's expected to come out in July, with a single, 'God Lead Your Soul', being released just before that.

The tracklisting for 'Personality' is:

'You Needed More'
'Devil Was In My Yard'
'God Lead Your Soul'
'Work Alone'
'God Knows'
'I Understand What You Want But I Just Don't Agree'
'Miles Away'
'Higher Than Hell'
'Play A Little Bit For Love'
'Don't Say'
'You Won't Bring People Down In My Town'
'Dream On'
'How Was I Supposed To Know'

Live dates are expected to be announced shortly.[/quote]

Is the same band all still together? Is this going to be fantastic or what? I love when bands take at least a couple years between releases. Where the hell is that new Avalanches album?

Did dude shave that sick moustache off yet? That thing was rank.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Friday, 7 April 2006 19:31 (twenty years ago)

A "few" years? Dude, I got my copy of the Avalanches CD in early 2000!

Can't imagine it's the same line up that recorded 'Lovers'(great album) - a couple of those guys left and formed a band called End of Fashion that are doing pretty good around here

grapple (grapple), Friday, 7 April 2006 21:40 (twenty years ago)

I AM SOOOO SLEEPY

team jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 7 April 2006 21:44 (twenty years ago)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 7 April 2006 23:01 (twenty years ago)

I saw them open for someone and was laughing out loud at how bad they were so we decided to get drunk instead.

I liked the guy's mustache though

Anthony Lombardi (CCPO), Saturday, 8 April 2006 00:15 (twenty years ago)

Overrated, I bought Lovers but never warmed up to it. I like the Veils better, they also have a new line up...

BeeOK (boo radley), Saturday, 8 April 2006 04:22 (twenty years ago)

i'm with jim. they're shite.

gem (trisk), Saturday, 8 April 2006 06:17 (twenty years ago)

I only know of the one album. I loved the sound, and about half of the songs. I thought it showed great potential.

nicky lo-fi (nicky lo-fi), Saturday, 8 April 2006 07:20 (twenty years ago)

i agree, there is potential. i'm curious

rizzx (Rizz), Saturday, 8 April 2006 07:46 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
they're an awesome band, i saw them at fowlers live a couple of years back, and they were a gas.

Ted, Sunday, 23 April 2006 08:37 (twenty years ago)

ps - 'Lovers' is great

grapple (grapple), Monday, 24 April 2006 00:46 (twenty years ago)

three months pass...
Well, Personality is one of the best albums of the year so far. I don't remember much from Lovers, but this is great. The guy has a voice like Luke Haines, and the background music is sometimes evokes a summery Mercury Rev.
Great record. Avalanches? Who the fuck cares?

zeus (zeus), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 19:49 (nineteen years ago)

Beneath all the production, there's not really much to any of the songs.

God Lead Your Soul was a good single, at least.

Mil (Mil), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 21:45 (nineteen years ago)

I AM SOOOO SLEEPY

hahaha

genital hyphys (haitch), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 23:28 (nineteen years ago)

The guy has a voice like Luke Haines

they're weird live

nervous (cochere), Thursday, 17 August 2006 02:31 (nineteen years ago)

Mil OTM. This was such a disappointing follow-up.

jonviachicago (jonviachicago), Thursday, 17 August 2006 02:33 (nineteen years ago)

An acid damaged 70's sunset with anemic lyrics/singing to match. What's the point of absolutely zero edge?
