How are the DAMON & NAOMI lps?

I only have "More Sad Hits"... and I do like it very much.. better than the LUNA stuff but not as much as the Galaxie 500 stuff.. How are "Playback Singers", "The Wonderful World..." and the lp with Ghost??? Todd

The Ghost LP is really lovely. Very psychedelic wibbling and drawn- out melancholic wailage. I probably don't make it sound that great, but it is.

The album with Ghost is quite nice....very languid and slow,....as you might expect. Not a wild departure from their normal fare, really.

my vote goes to Playback singers

More Sad Hits and With Ghost are my faves. Wonderful World is probably the least essential of the four.

"the mirror phase" off w/ ghost (or no. 1 as some will refer to it) was on repeat mode on my stereo for well over a week. it's very good.

Also don't forget the monstrous psych-out Magic Hour discs they did with Kate and Wayne from Crystalized Movements.

Magic Hour would be OK if it wasn't for Wayne Rogers' voice. I only heard Crystalised Movements for the first time recently and was horrified by how NOT GOOD it was. Like early Dinosaur with too much reverb and that terrible voice.

five years pass...

You know, if you actually pay attention to their newest album Within These Walls it's completely insufferable, but as background texture it's lovely. If someone else would write their lyrics I think it might help. Songs too. Ok, if someone else would write their songs and lyrics, I think they could be on to something. Covers album? Might be great, but maybe we should let someone else pick the songs to cover.

More Sad Hits is all anyone needs. The Ghost album is horrible. All the rest are boring/forgettable. And More Sad Hits is all anyone needs if, like, you see it for a dollar. Which is about what it sells for.

sometimes i feel like D&N's only fan. 'Within These Walls' doesn't work for me at all, but it took Playback Singers about two months to sink in. The Earth Is Blue was wonderful right off the bat, however.

I didn't want to smear everything they've done, definitely. Within These Walls amplifies all of their weaknesses to an unbearable level. At the same time, the sound of it is very nice. Frustrating!
