I didn't even know about this until I found what I guess is their one album No Sound is Heard from a couple of years ago in Amoeba's clearance section. Definitely a Krautrock vibe, the name gives that much away, but in a sparer sense -- say the quieter side of what th' Faith Healers were doing, but also blockier, for lack of a better term. Comparisons in my head have included the Raincoats and Young Marble Giants but there have to be other ones.

Anyway, go here, then.

are they even still going? that album was a few years ago now.

seeing them live a couple times (around the time when the roger sisters were touted as the next big thing...) their set was very monotone and meandering, bordering on amateur. perhaps with a feeling they were on the cusp of a movement that might've been in the offing, that which invariably never happened.

IE, two years. They might not be around anymore, no.

No sound is heard is a fantastic album. I listen to it much still. I want them to make more now.

Wow, neat. I actually like this part v. much:

I did feel that I was meant to carry on creating music, so I started another band – klang. My intention was to express God’s truth in a way that was culturally relevant to my peers. I became fascinated with the presence of God that spoke so loudly in silence. The space between the notes became more important to me than the music.

As one who listens for that space myself, I appreciate this impulse.

Matthews gave a talk at a local church a year or two ago about having found god. It was odd seeing a poster on a bus with a big picture of the first Elastica record on it. I didn't go along.

Never heard of this before but I'd definetely like to hear it. Good for her for sorting out her drug problems - I wouldn't be surprised if we hear more from her sometime.
