PO2: The Field Mice

My search function has so far turned up no similar threads, so I thought I'd make one up myself.

Inspiring ambivalence and belligerence in roughly equal measure in persons not "into that sort of thing," Robert Wratten deserves endless credit for fashioning an illustrious, 15-or-so-year career out of writing absolutely nothing but first-person love songs, with a remarkable consistency of quality. I say, pick one sweet, jangly twee Field Mice song and one weird, acid-house/shoegaze/musique concrete Field Mice song.

For my part:

"And Before the First Kiss" on the first count due to its being the most beautiful, heartbreaking song ever ever, and

"Missing the Moon" on the second count for, if nothing else, the bassline.

wait, didn't read the two types you wanted me to choose, just saw "field mice" and po2 and picked my two favs right away. "sensitive" still, and "below the stars" if i can get away with it. i'm not as keen on that other side of them. still love it all, though.

sweet/jangly/twee = "End Of The Affair"...(not realy sweet or jangly, but then I always preferred the melancholic side of Field Mice)

weird/acid house/shoegaze/musique concrete = "Stumblebee"...(I think that's the name...it's on the Skywriting EP, and it's the one that goes "chocolate love sex" over and over)...

That's "Humblebee", my least favorite Field Mice song. Still Field Mice though, so...
