My search function has so far turned up no similar threads, so I thought I'd make one up myself.
Inspiring ambivalence and belligerence in roughly equal measure in persons not "into that sort of thing," Robert Wratten deserves endless credit for fashioning an illustrious, 15-or-so-year career out of writing absolutely nothing but first-person love songs, with a remarkable consistency of quality. I say, pick one sweet, jangly twee Field Mice song and one weird, acid-house/shoegaze/musique concrete Field Mice song.
"And Before the First Kiss" on the first count due to its being the most beautiful, heartbreaking song ever ever, and
"Missing the Moon" on the second count for, if nothing else, the bassline.
