well, they were way better than joan of arc ... that's got to count for something, right? actually cap n jazz isn't too bad, but definitely not classic.

I did enjoy Mike Kinsellas band American Football.

Classic-er than all the bands they spawned and for maybe 1/4 of that 2cd anthology--the first couple songs on the album, the cheesy emofication of "Take on Me" etc. Dud for the MANY CRAPPY BANDS THEY SPAWNED. Good god they should go to jail for that shit.

Music is a total classic for Disc 1 of the anthology. LYRICS ARE A TOTAL DUD FOR EVERYTHING THEY EVER DID.

I thought the thread title said "Cap n Swing," in which case Classic.

After all this time I still love the Cap n Jazz anthology, the first Joan of Arc, and the early Promise Ring singles plus 30 Degrees Everywhere and the Boys and Girls EP. All of which makes me EMU

Co-sign for Cap'n Jazz disc one. Also really like the first couple Joan of Arc discs. He had some weird stuff going on with the lyrics; it wasn't just total nonsense... like that one track where he draws some kind of parallel between the biblical Bethesda and Bethesda, Maryland (with obscure reference to the legendary Tastee Diner). Early Promise Ring co-sign, too. A Promise Ring/Burning Airlines/Jets to Brazil show I saw in that era was one of my favorite shows at that point for me.

I thought the thread revive was gonna be about the band Algernon who sound just like them.

I'm onboard for about half of the first Capn'Jazz anthology disc one, about 3/4ths of the Joan of Arc catalog, and everything Promise Ring ever did (except most of Wood/Water).
