the PSB's jumped the shark long ago but this really left me bereft too. so bad and obvious and yet still over a year behind the Little Britain bandwagon which even those who admired them at one point have lept off.

it's not just the video, though. the song too is bad and obvious and could have written itself.

Hideous.

Myke. (Myke Weiskopf), Saturday, 15 April 2006 02:53 (twenty years ago)

Think the song is great. The video a bit lame though, I hate Little Britain.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 April 2006 09:27 (twenty years ago)

Surely it's Rock Profiles rather than Little Britain though?

(not to say that one's any better than the other)

kit brash (kit brash), Saturday, 15 April 2006 10:02 (twenty years ago)

Come on, it's really not that bad. I laughed at the last twenty seconds. The "bandwagon" issue is a bit of a red herring, I think -- who cares either way? -- although I'll admit if Walliams hadn't had the goofy "comedy" expression, it would've been about 80% less annoying. (I hate him.)

And anyway, I guess it keeps up the PSB tradition of pairing up with naff British comedy icons.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Saturday, 15 April 2006 10:40 (twenty years ago)

...and I quite like the song too -- awesome drum sound. Obviously it's just a slight return of "Paninaro", but it passes the "I'd drop my drinks and run to the dancefloor if it was playing" test, which is sort of the key to PSB singles. (Except the slow ones, obv.)

well yeah, was a bit tipsy at that stage but it was actually 11.45pm on a friday night so cut me some slack eh? and the sentiment remains the same now, sober and watching match of the day.

danny invincible (michael w.), Saturday, 15 April 2006 20:49 (twenty years ago)

It's a great song, it's got buckets of that PSB drama!

I watched the video again, I think I'd like it if it wasn't the Little Britain guys, and was two ordinary looking dudes that aren't the PSBs. I like the kind of faint ridicule of their earlier stuff.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 April 2006 20:51 (twenty years ago)

your right on both fronts ronan but it is them and it's so disappointing. i haven't had chance to sort that messenger out and the computer's been playing up a bit but i'll let you know as soon as i do.

danny invincible (michael w.), Saturday, 15 April 2006 21:06 (twenty years ago)

Can anybody explain what is Little Britain and why it's so disapointing that PSB team up with them for us non-Brits?

LeRooLeRoo (Seb), Saturday, 15 April 2006 21:25 (twenty years ago)

It's a comedy sketch show, I'd cite a non British equivalent except only the British could come up with "Little Britain". It's kind of dumb.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 April 2006 21:27 (twenty years ago)

It's ubiquity has made it really fucking annoying. So at the water cooler in work people are all like "Yeah, but. No, but" or "I'm a lady" and it makes one want to defenestrate oneself.

jimnaseum (jimnaseum), Saturday, 15 April 2006 21:35 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I never liked it either, I don't like irresponsible comedy like that, I mean you know, where you think the people making it are actually pricks.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 15 April 2006 21:36 (twenty years ago)

it's mean-spirited, dislikable shit that everyone seems to like.

danny invincible (michael w.), Saturday, 15 April 2006 21:40 (twenty years ago)

has anyone heard the Mayer mix of "Flamboyant" yet. I think I'm as excited about this as the rest of the album. If so YSI'd like to hear it.

I'm going to look fer that remix. Easily my fave PSB song for the past decade or so.

Chuck_Tatum (Chuck_Tatum), Sunday, 16 April 2006 09:44 (twenty years ago)

I'm not a Brit, but I love the PSB. I thought the song was fairly good, and a good indication of what else might be on the forth coming CD. I've never seen Little Britian, but I thought the video was very funny. The PSB might have jumped the shark as a Pop 40 group, but I think their music is still strong. I love the remix they did with Madonna for "Sorry".

Dr. Z, Thursday, 20 April 2006 04:40 (twenty years ago)

This video is a travesty, though the song is great fun. The single will almost certainly go top 10, probably be their biggest hit since "Go West". (I reserve the right to be wrong).
