Please help me find contemporary techno that will sate my lust for ambient house a la "The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld."

I am woefully out of touch with new music and am unable to keep up with the now-sounds of tomorrow today.

do you have the other essential early orb discs?

UF Orb
Patterns and Textures
Aubrey Mixes: The Ultraworld Excursions
Peel Sessions

if not, get those. nothing new sounds like old Orb.

Have you heard Kompakt's "Pop Ambient" series? You should also track down Dettinger's albums.

I've got U.F. Orb, but none of the others. I heart it. I have heard of this "Pop Ambient," and of one Gas, though I can't seem to find CDs of theirs (his?) anywhere.

I'm just a sucker for lengthy, nature/outer space-themed techno with weird noises and NASA samples.

Okey Dokey It's the Orb on Kompakt is a real grower.

For a darker look into outer space techno, I'd recommend Nephology by Air Liquide. Their newer stuff is good too.

Music for City Centres. Swod - Gehen. Miwon - Pale Glitter. Both amazing.

You should definitely acquire Cirque by Biosphere as well.

Not *that* recent but wonderful psychedelic ambient-dub:

Ott - Blumenkraft
Hallucinogen - In Dub

Jan Jelinek's Kosmicher Pitch--not as pulsing as others listed here, but an excellent lp.

five years pass...

Some of this stuff is good but does any of it have humour like the first Orb records?

Check out some of the Mungolian Jet Set's work - in particular their remix of Ronny and Renzo's "Big Smack and Flies".
