has anybody heard it yet? i caught some songs at spaceland sometime last year and they were pretty great. one of them sounded like minor threat or something. in fact, i think they ended up doing "not your stepping stone" at the end of the show too.

me too, at first it didn't make much of an impression. but two listens later it was quite good.

May something or other.

Esp. in comparison to everything else ca. 2002, their debut has aged quite well.

This band sucks hard. They're obviously into cool music, but they suck. Ripping off the Basement Tapes in sound and texture only is lame and pointless.

haha, that is the most random idea ever. that's like saying, "prince blows because james brown was blacker than him"

here's a general walkmen c/d thread that could use some more life (she said helpfully, hoping to preserve this current thread for info/thoughts about the new album).

It wouldn't seem so random if you heard the last thing that I heard by these old fart charlatans! Just kidding... That one Rat song is pretty dank...

two weeks pass...
I like the new album a lot. Maybe the best of all! The instrumentation is interesting, loose, and produced in a nice, raw kind of style. If you don't already like The Walkmen, this probably won't convince you, but I think it's grand. "Emma, Get me a lemon" is my current favorite...

i noticed that it's leaked on slsk.

Bob Dylan’s harmonica can make it hard for office workers to concentrate. (Jody , Wednesday, 10 May 2006 20:35 (twenty years ago)

The pattern of diminishing returns is crystal clear now that I've heard the third album.
