Roxy Music: "Both Ends Burning" - the first ever New Romantic track?

Just wondering, could this be considered the first New Romantic track?

At least I think it was the first one to feature those synthpads in the background that were so typical of bands like Duran Duran, Ultravox and Simple Minds.

Anyone else thought about this?

Yes

well, i always reckoned post-Siren Roxy as the beginning of NuRomantic…

"both ends" swings like a motherfukker…if Japan or Duran Duran or ABC were ever 'luenced by it, they fell way short per the drumming…

I can't think of a contemporaneous track which sounds as odd as "Both Ends Burning": the swirling synth, Mackay's sax, and, yeah, the drumming.

Yeah, and Love is the Drug is the first and best disco punk song.

The first, maybe, the best is "Sex And Drugs And Rock'n'Roll" by Ian Dury. :)

"Both Ends Burning" is the best track on Syren, also one of the highlights of the career of Roxy Music. This is the proper (and only?) pre-discopunk.
