Have don caballeros' American Don. Yes, one bit of a track does sound like reich's electric counterpoint but the main point of reference surely King crimson circa 'red'.

Always wanted to hear kenny process team but I've never seen any of their records in a shop. Will try and search tonight. What would you recommend?

The cab. You're never going to find many more talented drummer guitar combinations than Damon Che and Ian Williams.

Kenny Process Team make my brain melt in a good way. My only protective talisman is to say "Yeah, they're like a boogie-woogie prog Shaggs" and pretend that makes sense.

Todd: Oh yes you will. Kevin Shea & Ian Williams, for one.

one month passes...
Don Caballero; what a band! "American Don" and "What Burns Never Returns are absolute masterpieces, much more subtle than any other so- called "math rock" and totally devoid of cliche. I don't really understand the continual Steve Reich comparisons, though; just because it's a guitar going through a delay pedal (sometimes) doesn't make it "Electric Counterpoint" (thank god).

I'm just sorry that I'll probably never get to see them live.

Blimey. Hello Mr Larcombe! When's the next Stars gig then?

RickyT, Tuesday, 7 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Good afternoon Mr. Tunnicliffe! A pleasure as always!

Couldn't resist contributing to a Don Cab thread. Since you ask, the next Stars In Battledress night is on the 22nd. of May at Tatty Bogle's, 11 Kingley Court, off Beak Street.

So, are you familiar with the ways of the Caballero yourself yet?

the Kenny Process Team 2002 are as follows Kevin Plummer, lost in India somewhere Matt Armstrong, heroin addict Dave Ross, turned in to an arsehole and no one ever spoke to him again Simon(big boy) king alive and well and playing in a band called lion rock last I heard.

and the ex kenny front man Matt Deighton ended up playing with Paul Weller and Oasis, if you can find it check out "No soap?@on the gentelmans coller" on black and white indian its their finest moment
