the algorithm is a very crude sort of "smart map" neural network/genetic algorithm based loosely on a Kohnen self organizing map. i added a bit of "gravity" that will tend slightly to pull critics closer to overall consensus slightly downwards.
this is pretty ugly still in lots of ways -- inefficent, not as "trained" as it could be, could use a better way to "seed" conditions, handles borders poorly, etc.
but not bad for a few hours messing around. if folks are interested i could always add more later.

there are seperate blue and red values, independent of one another. the blue is based on similarity to overall consensus, not neighbors.

I don't even know the people I'm touching, but I see that I'm just a hop and a jump from Rob Harvilla, whom I'm grooming as my future enabler.
Brian, John Wójtowicz occasionally posts here (I forget under what name), and he's been a friend of mine since 1981.

(1) Establish album affinities via critic voting patterns, thus grouping them together into cadres.
(2) Use the results to group critics (not just via voting for the same albums, but by voting for similar albums, as established in part 1).
(3) Use the results to re-calibrate album affinities, not only via voting patterns, but also the affinities between critics established in part 2.
(4) Use re-calibrated album affinities to recalibrate critic affinities ...
And do so again and again until it's conclusively proven that we're all secretly Corey DuBrowa.

Making up quotes, making up PNJ lists... Seems to me the word works, albeit imperfectly.
