I just listened to "Dragnet" by the Fall last night and the somg "Muzorewi's Daughter" absolutely slayed me. It got me to wondering, who is Muzorewi?

Anyone?

Abel Tendekayi Muzorewa (* 14. April 1925) in former Rhodesia), a Methodist bishop and nationalist leader, was prime minister of the short-lived coalition government in what was called Zimbabwe Rhodesia; he held office for only a few months in 1979.

It's always been my guess that Mark E. got the name from him.

from a 1980 issue of the fanzine Cool -- you can read it here:

Cool: I want to know who Muzorewi is.

MES : Bishop Muzorewa, but I can't pronounce it; Bishop Muzorewi is mancunians.

Cool: Why'd you call it Dragnet?

MES: To, like, catch people, get rid of the pretentious element who follow us. 'Cos we were getting into a bad circuit with what we were doing. Dragnet is to take in people. The sound's changed, right, so the people are obviously going to change .... I think so. It's just off the wall like ..... it's also part of the song Flat of Angles as well. Dragnet: when the police look for people they call it a dragnet.
