Your Mother

Peter Patterson, Friday, 5 May 2006 00:42 (nineteen years ago)

The Your Mother reissue was a big let down I thought. After all the smack - no extra tracks?!

Dave Bush (davebush), Friday, 5 May 2006 00:47 (nineteen years ago)

It took me a long time to get into Your Mother but once I did there was no turning back.

Jeff K (jeff k), Friday, 5 May 2006 00:49 (nineteen years ago)

I got into Your Mother in the later years but i pulled out of that once everyone started getting into Your Mother

Two Scoops (Magic Duster), Friday, 5 May 2006 02:11 (nineteen years ago)

I thought Your Mother wasn't tight enough. In fact, it was pretty loose.

Bring Me The Head of ESTEBAN BUTTEZ (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Friday, 5 May 2006 02:13 (nineteen years ago)

Now, I feel Your Mother in ways that I never thought I would when I was first introduced to Your Mother

Peter Patterson, Friday, 5 May 2006 04:29 (nineteen years ago)

I was sitting there bored and decided to give Your Mother a spin. At first I thought Your Mother was over-the-hill, until I approached your mother from a different angle, and it all clicked. You'd be surprised how far Your Mother has come.

first two Streets albums

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Friday, 5 May 2006 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

well, I can't say I ever *hated* Trout Mask Replica, but it took me several years to "get" it...

hank (hank s), Friday, 5 May 2006 18:23 (nineteen years ago)

TMR is to threads like these as the Holocaust is to political arguments -- first person to mention it loses automatically

yuengling participle (rotten03), Friday, 5 May 2006 19:18 (nineteen years ago)

i can't say i hated it necessarily, but i was a bit put off by the clean's modern rock when it arrived. it has since become my favorite clean record.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Friday, 5 May 2006 19:26 (nineteen years ago)

er, I meant to say 10cc's first LP...sorry for the confusion...

hank (hank s), Friday, 5 May 2006 19:27 (nineteen years ago)

so is that the end of the yo mama jokes

Cee Bee (Cee Bee), Friday, 5 May 2006 19:59 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, that jerk Matos-Dicktionary guy killed it by actually responding rationally to the thread question.

Coincidentially, Matos, I was rooting around last night, looking for Your Mother. Let's just say, Your Mother is much better than I remember Your Mother being. Bordering on sexy.

Erock LAzron, Saturday, 6 May 2006 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

i did not like guided by voices for years and years. it took a lot of chemicals and constant exposure to have them grow on me. now i count "bee thousand" as one of my favorites, like, obviously. oh, and same goes for the streets.

Emily B (Emily B), Saturday, 6 May 2006 16:42 (nineteen years ago)

God, I used to be totally obsessed with Your Mother. I mean you could say that as far as Your Mother was concerned I was a total stalker.
I used to like to get up onstage and pretend like I was in Your Mother. But in those fantasies I was the only member, unlike real life, in which many, many members went in and out of Your Mother.

Sparkle Motion's Rising Force, Saturday, 6 May 2006 22:38 (nineteen years ago)

Your Mother will never die.

(Complete 180: Spirit of Eden. I think it was really the vocals that made me hate it so much at first-- sounded like Adam Duritz on Xanax. After slowly warming to it, I have been convinced. Driving to it helped, I think).

trees (treesessplode), Saturday, 6 May 2006 23:00 (nineteen years ago)

There were a couple of periods where I was so deep into Your Mother it was painful.

sparkle Motion's Rising Force, Saturday, 6 May 2006 23:04 (nineteen years ago)

This is the greatest thread ever.

P.S. - I always found Your Mother difficult to penetrate, due to the gruff exterior, but Your Mother can be quite "mind" blowing if you make the effort, which I have.

Erock Lazron, Saturday, 6 May 2006 23:49 (nineteen years ago)

When anyone asks me to describe Your Mother, the only thing I can say is "Your Mother makes me want to fuck."

Sparkle Motion's Rising Force, Sunday, 7 May 2006 00:04 (nineteen years ago)

I find that I have to be in the mood for Your Mother, otherwise after a few minutes I'm bored...

Barry Prickett (bringitsingit), Monday, 8 May 2006 16:45 (nineteen years ago)

I like Your Mother's older stuff.

p.j. (Henry), Monday, 8 May 2006 18:10 (nineteen years ago)

This just happened to me with Late Registration. I have stopped worrying and learned to love the shit.

regular roundups (Dave M), Monday, 8 May 2006 18:19 (nineteen years ago)

Your Mother has just been going through the motions lately.

KurtVonnegut, Monday, 8 May 2006 18:26 (nineteen years ago)

Your Mother has just been going through the motions lately.

true, but Your Mother is still expert at a certain tantalizing maneuver on the lower prostate.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Monday, 8 May 2006 18:40 (nineteen years ago)

hate to say it, but Your Mother has aged like bad whiskey...

hank (hank s), Monday, 8 May 2006 18:43 (nineteen years ago)

People say Your Mother has fell off, but she still gets my head bopping on occasion.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 8 May 2006 20:25 (nineteen years ago)

When I saw first saw the LP, I was like "Wow, can I handle 12 inches of Your Mother?"

Unlimited Toothpicker (eman), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:35 (nineteen years ago)

Saw that footage of Your Mother backstage with Motley Crüe on VH1 last night.

Unlimited Toothpicker (eman), Monday, 8 May 2006 21:38 (nineteen years ago)

Some older guys first introduced me to Your Mother when I was still in
short pants. Before I knew it, I was having savage intercourse with Your Mother. Wait...that doesn't work.

Okay: I had group sex with Def Leppard!!

Wait. No...I don't think I get it...

honnimonni, Monday, 8 May 2006 21:49 (nineteen years ago)

Grooverider was canin' Your Mother at AWOL last night...then, later I heard that DJ Hype was gonna be rinsin' Your Mother...yep, I'd say Your Mother's time has come...

hank (hank s), Monday, 8 May 2006 22:00 (nineteen years ago)

...so my friend Jeff and I were at the Abbey Lounge last Thursday, on karaoke night...and Your Mother was there!...I mean, what was Your Mother doing in a dive like that?...anyway, Jeff says to me "you know what? I'm gonna do Your Mother!"...and I said "here, in front of everybody?"..."you know it, but I gotta get liquored up first"...so he throws down a few Knob Creeks (his whiskey of choice), speaks with the DJ, grabs his Knob, and the next thing you know, he's up there doing Your Mother!...and not just "doing", he was completely *butchering* Your Mother!...and he was really getting into it, his face was all red and sweaty, spit flying everywhere...and Your Mother?...well, Your Mother was mortified, as you can imagine...Your Mother should sue Jeff!...there oughtta be a law against this shit!...well, Jeff finally finished and we left the bar, but not before he and Your Mother had a very heated exchange...I have to say, I'm a big fan and all, but Your Mother will never be the same to me again...Jeff, that bastard, ruined your Mother for me!

Your Father

jok, Monday, 8 May 2006 23:20 (nineteen years ago)

I always thought Your Mother sucked. Turns out, I was right.

Peter Patterson, Tuesday, 9 May 2006 02:19 (nineteen years ago)

There's no denying that Your Mother's appeal has worn off quite a bit. But Your Mother is definitely ripe for a comeback. Yeah, Your Mother has the potential to be really hot again, for sure.
