every Queen album deserves a thread, really. I just bought a nice vinyl copy last week and, after not listening to it for years, was blown away again by all those songs! Everyone in the band wrote an amazing song or two for the album as well. Freddie had "We Are The Champions" and "My Melancholy Blues" and "Get Down, Make Love". Brian had "We Will Rock You", "Sleeping On The Sidewalk", "It's Late", and "All Dead, All Dead". John Deacon had "Who Needs You" and "Spread Your Wings". And Roger Taylor had "Sheer Heart Attack" and "Fight From The Inside". Wow! I hope punk wasn't trying to save us from Queen, cuz "Sheer Heart Attack" wipes the floor with most punk from 1977. Sorry! But it's true! "All Dead, All Dead" and "It's Late", shit, I could name them all. If you know of any modern rock albums that has THIS album's range, let me know about them. Plus, the cover and the gatefold fucking rule. And, jock jams or no jock jams, you can't fuck with the rock you beat. I love ALL 70's Queen albums pretty much evenly, but this one is gonna get a lot of play from me in coming weeks (and, thus, all other Queen albums will no doubt get hauled out. cuz that's how that works).

"You Say Your Hungry/I Give You Meat/I Suck Your Mind/You Blow My Head" (!!!!) (Was GG Allin a fan?)

Huge classic, if not only for "Fight from the Inside" and "Sheer Heart Attack" (the song).

Trivial footnote -- Trent Reznor (a massive Queen fan) borrowed a riff from "Fight From the Inside" for "Last" on Nine Inch Nails' Broken e.p..

I used tp sneak "Sheer Heart Attack" on in between songs by Agnostic Front and Naked Raygun on my college radio show, and no one ever knew the difference. Then again, maybe no one was listening in the first place, but that's not the point.

I hear ya, Alex. Sheer Heart Attack is pure punk. Is there nothing Queen couldn't do?

eighteen years pass...

I celebrated its 47th anniversary in my radio show this week with four covers and 'Who Needs You'.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to fit in Nine Inch Nails, so here's a bonus track:
