Where can I find this track? I've tried iTunes (which has a lot of Ehlers stuff, but not this one) and Kompakt MP3...no luck.

anyone heard the new Ekkehard?

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 7 May 2006 13:36 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, it takes a few listens, a bit different than his other stuff, but good.

James Jung (James Jung), Sunday, 7 May 2006 13:43 (nineteen years ago)

I'd go so far to say no two records under his own name are similar. Each is its own thing. And the new one is quite good.

Mark (MarkR), Sunday, 7 May 2006 13:52 (nineteen years ago)

yes i guess that's right. i thought the Mårz thing was dull nor did i like "Politik Braucht Keinen Feind" but he has made some of my very favourite music of the last few years.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 7 May 2006 13:55 (nineteen years ago)

james, i've gmailed you.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 7 May 2006 14:20 (nineteen years ago)

i thought politik braucht keined feind was very good, but it took a few listens to click. seemed to carry on nicely in the "tradition" of plays.

i have been wondering if ehlers would be releasing any more music under his own name or betrieb or even auch for that matter. lots of gems in his catalog. what's soundchambers like?

breakfast pants (disco stu), Sunday, 7 May 2006 15:23 (nineteen years ago)

the bass clarinets on politik are fantastic...and the woolf phrase loop piece (which is on the above-mentioned whatness release) is really great....

I'm really digging the new album...if i can recommend a great companion album it would be mats gustafsson & david stackenas' "mountain blues from sweden" those two work quite well together for me lately...

I read an interview where he said that Auch was on permanent hiatus. I'd definitely be up for another Marz album though.

I'd go so far to say no two records under his own name are similar. Each is its own thing.

I agree with this -- he's one of the most unpredictable artists of the last few years.

(but I haven't heard the new one yet)

two years pass...

A friend was teling me about an Ehlers release that reminded him of Disintegration Loops, but in my disbelief, I forgot the title. Is he just wacko? I've only heard the Plays...stuff and whatever Auch tunes were on the Clicks + Cuts comps

"endless house" loops and is beautiful and melancholy but it doesnt really sound like disintegration loops at all

balthus ep and harmolodic house are generally glitchy and dancey

that's all ive heard

two years pass...

what's soundchambers like?

Just dug it out again and reminded that it is seriously one of the best things, the greatest things

I forgot about endless house, and shame on me for doing so, because it is so wonderful.

Hills Like White Broncos (EDB), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 09:51 (fourteen years ago)

Isn't this it?

Brakhage, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 21:37 (fourteen years ago)

Used to nice effect in this mix as well

Brakhage, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 21:56 (fourteen years ago)

Nah, that's a different Ehlers piece (off Plays)

Noise II Men (EDB), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 22:14 (fourteen years ago)

Well dang

Brakhage, Tuesday, 8 November 2011 22:15 (fourteen years ago)

The second on is in fact it, though.

Noise II Men (EDB), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 22:19 (fourteen years ago)

*second one, *but of course you don't get all that much of it).

Noise II Men (EDB), Tuesday, 8 November 2011 22:19 (fourteen years ago)

one year passes...

Ehlers' album from last year, Adikia, is remarkable, wouldn't know where to start describing it, covers a lot of space between the poles of electroacoustic and modern classical in a pretty special way.
