17. Saying you like Radiohead's "difficult" albums will only encourage them.

Precisely! Please, encourage them. That's exactly what I want.

28 = 4 x 7 = my favourite number so cool.

This is about as funny as those office work-related joke lists that people post near copy machines or in break rooms.

Ouch. FWIW, I think the whole thing was worth it just to trash Fricke.

36. No matter how talentless or mean-spirited you are, you can try to achieve a cheap burn (in a desperate attempt to generate cred) by creating a list like this one, proving how oh-so-hip you think you are.

what is the american mojo?

I know they're not talking about the Electrifying Mojo.

In the pictures I've seen of Fricke, he's been wearing a t-shirt and jeans. I must be missing something.

Andy K, Saturday, 16 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Fred S. told me one time about how he saw Fricke wandering around the office in black leather and other accoutrements in an attempt to indeed be Lou Reed. By all accounts, this failed.

I believe the "American Mojo" being referred to is the magazine Alan Light is leaving Spin to start; also, what Revolver was supposed to be before it mutated into a metal magazine

31. Would you please stop that incessant, jerky, head-bobbing? Standing behind you at a show is like staring at a strobe light.

Would you rather I DANCE? Asshole. I'm sorry, was I enjoying myself too much for you? Go talk to your friend(s) (ha) and shaddap.

Smug rock critics are bad. Smug meta-rock critics are worse.

Some of those were funny I guess, but there's something I really really hate about that list.

It's divisible by five, for a start! What's wrong with 36? Or 34 come to that!? Feh.

mark s, Sunday, 17 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The people who wrote it probably think it's cool to say "Bzzt, thanks for playing!" and "TWO WORDS:" (see Usenet thread on ILE) and other mid-90s comedian tics which are designed to make the user look tersely witty and able to cut through bullshit etc, but actually just make the user seem arrogant and silly.

Tom, that was great. Mark, do you feer the Illuminati?
