Which would it be? Only one:

Michael Jackson - Off the Wall
Madonna - Madonna
Curtis Mayfield - Curtis/Live!
Charles Mingus - Mingus Ah Um
Steely Dan - Gaucho
Neil Young - Zuma

wtf do these albums have in common with one another?
i would throw away both madonna and michael jackson, because i have no need for them. i'd probably throw out curtis/live too. cuz roots & curtis are enuff for me.

Steely Dan in a heartbeat.

Telephonething (Telephonething), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 01:48 (nineteen years ago)

Why would anyone have to throw away one album?

Madonna

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 01:49 (nineteen years ago)

i'd forcibly stuff all the vinyl into the MJ sleeve and turf the lot

electric sound of jim (and why not) (electricsound), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 01:52 (nineteen years ago)

Fuck a Zuma.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 02:00 (nineteen years ago)

Do you actually have to do this or something?

Sean Braudis (Sean Braudis), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 02:05 (nineteen years ago)

neil would just have to go.

Well, since I've never liked Zuma all that much, I haven't listened to Gaucho but can't imagine buying it ever, I don't dig the live Curtis stuff so much (find it kinda inessential), I think Off The Wall is over-rated, Ah Um is one of those albums that I always mean to listen to more but never do, and I've never bought a Madonna album (though I tend to like her singles)... Do I have to throw away just one?

What is this, some sort of bullshit Stylus canon exercise?

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 03:51 (nineteen years ago)

MJ, Curtis and Mingus shouldn't be anywhere near a 'get rid of' list

deej.. (deej..), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 03:56 (nineteen years ago)

I throw albums away when their bulk threatens to overwhelm me (actually, I just leave 'em in public places, and hope that someone likes it). Less trouble than getting 2, 3 or 4 dollars each from a 2nd hand store. I suppose if you take 4 or 5 CDs in, you might get $15, but then...for that little money, I prefer the idea of someone picking something up and trying it out, rather than dealing with the ever-diminishing returns at a store. I would keep Mingus, and ditch the rest.

Susan, your Zuma is safe in my trusted keeping. But MJ is OUTTA HERE!

jim wentworth (wench), Thursday, 11 May 2006 00:41 (nineteen years ago)

This thread was actually a "help me narrow down my purchases" type thread in disguise, since I had to get my list down to five purchases. I knew that wouldn't get any responses though.

I decided to throw out Zuma (for now) and replaced Curtis/Live with Innervisions (Stevie Wonder). Good or bad decision?

soundofurchin (Lee is Free), Thursday, 11 May 2006 01:02 (nineteen years ago)

madonna

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Thursday, 11 May 2006 01:03 (nineteen years ago)

Innervisions is also over-rated. It has the unfortunate burden of having some of Stevie Wonder's highest peaks, and then a fair amount of maudlin crap. (Just like What's Goin' On).

js (honestengine), Thursday, 11 May 2006 01:07 (nineteen years ago)

right on, jim.
XXPOST-you got alotta splainin to do.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Thursday, 11 May 2006 03:12 (nineteen years ago)

Steely Dan. If I feel the urge to listen to it for some unknown-to-me reason, I'll get my Mom's copy.
