Do people like this track? Even if it is kind of a "Stay Fly" knock off, I really like it. Maybe just because of the vocal manipulations on the chorus. Fun times.

And I guess the producers are Cool and Dre, not Three 6... what else have they done besides "Lean Back"?

sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 18:26 (nineteen years ago)

they didnt do lean back

-+-+-+++- (ooo), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 18:30 (nineteen years ago)

Cool & Dre didn't do "Lean Back". also, I'm not sure they did this either, but I haven't heard it that much so I can't quite remember. (xp)

Cool & Dre did "Hate it or Love It."

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 18:35 (nineteen years ago)

my bad. i find this article to be incredibly misleading

sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 20:06 (nineteen years ago)

cool & dre also did christina milian's current song with young jeezy, "say i," right? that song is great but very (very) similar to "hate it or love it"...does this one sound substantially diff?

swvl (vozick), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 21:13 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, I think that article has confused a lot of people, or at least the headline did. the article itself never says they did "Lean Back" but it also doesn't mention that Scott Storch did it. Dre is the worst producer-turned-rapper ever.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Wednesday, 10 May 2006 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure Cool & Dre did a lot of R&B a while back - Mya's "Case of the Ex", Blu Cantrell's "Waste My Time", more stuff i'm forgetting...

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 11 May 2006 02:23 (nineteen years ago)

I never heard of them doing "Case of the Ex". there's a list of their productions on Wikipedia, but I don't know how complete it is:

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Thursday, 11 May 2006 02:53 (nineteen years ago)

cool and dre did do lean back coz fat joe ssays it in the song, je says cool and dre, dey did dat song.

double, Monday, 15 May 2006 13:08 (nineteen years ago)

he also says Scott Storch in that song because Scott Storch produced it. Fat Joe shouts out Cool & Dre in songs not produced by them because they're kind of part of Terror Squad.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 15 May 2006 13:24 (nineteen years ago)

kinda curious to see what ppl here will make of christina's 100% cool&dre album

it's a scab i find myself picking a lot lately

rtccc (mwah), Monday, 15 May 2006 14:04 (nineteen years ago)

First off Case of the Ex by mya & Blu Cantrells Waste My Time was done by producer Tricky ATLANTA He also did Toxic by Britney Spears

Then Scott Storch did Lean Back!! Cool & Dre has a sound & it doesnt sound like that! Besides did you not see the awards? Fat Joe had Scott Storch on stage playibg it LIVE!!!! So, there you go Storch did it...

two years pass...

this is now the thread where we anticipate milian and the-dream's forthcoming elope, mainly because, in this context, tim upthread confusing cool & dre for the one we now all know as tricky stewart is too, too delicious to pass up. do i really gotta trail this one? will this producer-hugging scheme work second time around for xtina? will our plucky underdog bonnie & clyde 09 heroes make a hot album and fly, like so much peroxide hair, in the face of all the haters (not least among them jermaine dupri and his cronies, jealous of any kinship between dreamer and mariah - mariah, now married to cheating nick cannon from whom milian ran into dre's arms for 2006's so amazing)?? is tricky pondering what i'm pondering, aka 'CASE OF THE EX-EX'??? this aint a movie dogg!

starsky and what (J0rdan S.), Friday, 17 April 2009 15:41 (sixteen years ago)

yeah I'm really looking forward to Elope... her new image is cute (in a pornstar/high-paid escort kind of way), and the song "I'mma Cheat" - which I've heard the Electrik Red demo to - is excellent:

The fact that I'm really looking forward to a Christina Millian album in 2009 (as well as a Ginuwine album...) is kind of sad.... :-\

and then it comes to me... like an epiphany (The Brainwasher), Friday, 17 April 2009 15:42 (sixteen years ago)

why?

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Friday, 17 April 2009 15:45 (sixteen years ago)

Christina Millian is so second-rate

and then it comes to me... like an epiphany (The Brainwasher), Friday, 17 April 2009 15:46 (sixteen years ago)

i guess that's why she got a lot of cool production

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Friday, 17 April 2009 15:47 (sixteen years ago)

I dunno I mean, everyone says she "fucks for tracks" but I figure if that was true she'd have better songs maybe?

and then it comes to me... like an epiphany (The Brainwasher), Friday, 17 April 2009 15:49 (sixteen years ago)

http://theurbandaily.blackplanet.com/music/the-dream-defends-christina-milians-honor/

On whether Milian’s motives should be questioned -

"To clear this up, “Oh, she fuckin’ for tracks” and this shit, I be like these muthafuckas must be stupid. It’s a recession ain’t nobody got to fuck for tracks. We basically giving them away. There’s a clearance!"

r|t|c, Friday, 17 April 2009 15:52 (sixteen years ago)

i made a beat recently that would probably suit her lol

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Friday, 17 April 2009 15:53 (sixteen years ago)

xp ok the-dream is awesome

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Friday, 17 April 2009 15:54 (sixteen years ago)

speaking of Electrik Red i dunno my guess is both their album and Milian's albums will be a similar caliber of material dressed up with similarly limited vocals and relative lack of personality, but ER is kinda anonymous by design whereas CM is (kinda) famous and probably expects us to i dunno care about her life and shit, so i dunno i'm excited for the former but really can't muster much of a damn about the latter.

some dude, Friday, 17 April 2009 16:03 (sixteen years ago)

I think the Electrik Red girls have lots of personality... well mainly Naomi and Binkie..... but then again I'm a stan for them so I guess if you're not that invested in it their music is kind of faceless. But then again, I don't know that Christina Millian could pull this off:

and then it comes to me... like an epiphany (The Brainwasher), Friday, 17 April 2009 16:06 (sixteen years ago)

well yeah i haven't heard much by them and i'm just kinda waiting on the album because i don't really give a fuck about leaks, i usually just like the single (or the artist in general) and cop the albumor i don't, so maybe they are actually super charismatic and interesting and i'll find that out later. i'm just saying, if they don't, it's OK because it would fit with Terius's whole Vanity 6 vanity project steez, whereas if Milian still feels like a blank slate with his very best songs in place, i think it'll come off kinda shrill and unpleasant.

some dude, Friday, 17 April 2009 16:13 (sixteen years ago)

rumored first single "Zipper":

and then it comes to me... like an epiphany (The Brainwasher), Friday, 17 April 2009 23:12 (sixteen years ago)

it's kind of adorable that when an artist flops with one single and reboots the project with another, you bother to follow with the whole "first single" line the second or third or fourth time around

but thx for reminding me, i was just wondering what summer jam to blast in this PERFECT WEATHER and of course, 'whatever u want'/'say i' b2b will do just the job

lex pretend, Tuesday, 2 June 2009 13:48 (sixteen years ago)

i) engaged now ruh roh!!

ii) Interscope Records executives, including chairman Jimmy Iovine, gathered at an exclusive listening party for Christina Milian’s new album Elope in Los Angeles. Christina, along with her producer/boyfriend The-Dream, received a standing ovation after playing tracks for a room full of execs.

iii) 'say i' still one of the poorest songs in living memory

iiib) most idiotically irrelevant guest verse ever? "don't mind me, i'm just thinking out loud" lol o-kay

iv) in this current heady climate so amazing remains fatally underexamined, get to work

v) oh yeah 'zipper' suxx - xtina nervously contorting herself into a corsetted beyonce strut whilst hubby pops 'friend lover' in the post continues to amuse

r|t|c, Tuesday, 2 June 2009 14:10 (sixteen years ago)

The first single supposedly has been changed from "Zipper" to a Terius/Milian duet entitled "Supersonic," which Milian has described as "reminiscent of R. Kelly & Aaliyah".
