I love the whole noise mixed with punk/indie/freeform sound that occupies this label. Are there any others out there that carry similar type bands? 5 Rue Christine (5RC) is another good one in a somewhat similar style.

Not Not Fun is one of my favourite diy labels of that ilk running right now, and it shares some ground with Load - having put out Magik Markers and Coughs records, as well as the similarly noisy LA folk like Silver Daggers and Abe Vigoda, but then there are several other sides to them as well, as the Weirdo/Begeirdo, Hello Astronaut Goodby Television, and Bobby Birdman releases demonstrate.

So, yeah - a good deal of interesting music within that domain.

six years pass...

This was the closest thing to a Load thread I found and I am not sure what rolling thread would find this of interest. Ed Schrader's Music Beat did this record called Jazz Mind and I've been loving it more with each listen.

eleven months pass...

I recall that some band on or associated with Load (Fat Worm of Error and Pink & Brown come to mind but I can't find anything) had a website that had one huge page (as in you had to scroll for miles to see it all) featuring an intensely flashing background and lots of crazy gifs and other eye- and brain-ruining images. I enjoyed it. Anyone remember who it was?

Maybe the earlier versions of this? Not a band, but Load-related: http://www.paperrad.org/newindex.html

bentelec, Friday, 31 January 2014 23:25 (twelve years ago)

Paperrad was a project of one of the members of Lightning Bolt who were on Load
