...psst... say you like Mount Sims, Outhud, !!!, ESG, Sexual Harrasment, the Anti-NY and AfroBeat vibe & other upjumptheboogietypes of stonecoldjaintrockers (reaching forward n' backward) like 'Boogie on Reggae Woman' or Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight, Whitehorse, certain tracks by Juca Chaves or Junkyard Band... what are you fuckin' with this season when folks have just populated a room?

um, subtract the post-punk clatter-ish part of the equation, replace with French house elements, and then I'm down with 'Easy Love' by MSTRKRFT. (I noticed a little mstrkrft hate on ilm, but I don't get it... at least not with that track anyway)
oooh... also just discovered 'hills of katmandu' by Tantra. Which is 14 great minutes of disco. (The b-side is a cool and mysterious '40 minutes of hot platters' which is also cool if you find the 12") This is not new though.

I dig the first half of the E-40 album, which is full of "stormtrooper drums" (my friend's phrase). The second half is kinda weak, though, but the CD is so long that the aforementioned ten tracks equal the length of an LP.

I came home the other night and danced to Bohannon and "Shame, Shame, Shame" by Shirley and Company for a couple of hours, too.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Friday, 12 May 2006 08:11 (nineteen years ago)

well thats seems right enough

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Friday, 12 May 2006 08:12 (nineteen years ago)

Also, try "Suspicion" and "Hot Stage Lights" by Van Hunt. Tuff.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Friday, 12 May 2006 08:13 (nineteen years ago)

Brandon Mitchell (A.H.), Friday, 12 May 2006 13:22 (nineteen years ago)

Brandon Mitchell (A.H.), Friday, 12 May 2006 13:32 (nineteen years ago)

"Mobilee label" ? I don't hear mobilee at any summer jams in my mind - any particular tracks you're thinking of, drew?

natedey (ndeyoung), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:05 (nineteen years ago)

the Mobilee track "Randy Ho" seemed to work well last night when I played it out at a club

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:07 (nineteen years ago)

Pan-Pot? hot damn, when are you coming to new york to play mobilee in the club?

natedey (ndeyoung), Friday, 12 May 2006 17:12 (nineteen years ago)

That Pan-Pot EP is Winter bobbins??

a drop into 'what you know about that?' still gets it goin if that's not to radio friendly for youz.

c2 remix 1 of goldfrapp;

Jimmy_tango, Friday, 12 May 2006 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

four weeks pass...
DFA's (Not Carl Craig's mind you) remix of Relevée. Not a banger, but definitely deserves more hype than the aforementioned.

Chantilly Bass (ChantillyBass), Friday, 9 June 2006 15:22 (nineteen years ago)

I was really disappointed with the second Out Hud album; thank god for LCD Soundsystem

as far as afrobeat goes... Antibalas has some good cuts although their newest album is a little too political. not that I mind the politics, but the instrumental stuff is ultimately more listen-able.

marbles (marbles), Friday, 9 June 2006 15:54 (nineteen years ago)

Are Gnarls Barkley still running "Crazy" as a single? Because "Smiley Face" is totally going to own summer 06.

mummy wrapped in bacon (nickalicious), Friday, 9 June 2006 15:57 (nineteen years ago)
