Is Wyclef the most Inconsistent rapper ever?

He's the proud owner of some of the most awful verses i've ever heard, but then suddenly he'll come out with a reasonable song like some of the stuff on the Fugees album, then suddenly he's doing a song with the Rock and i'm angry again. Then he does that 911 song which i actually quite like.. then he does an album with Tom Jones. Is he under contractual obligation to release ten terrible songs for every semi decent one he comes up with?

I want to like him, I really do, but he needs to work with me if this is going to happen. And right now it feels like he's pushing me away again.. SHAK-IRA SHAK-IRRAAA!

he's not a rapper. he's a producer-impresario-pop genius who isn't particularly concerned how secure and cool his songs make you feel. and his song with the Rock is one of his best.

Wyclef must have listened to every radio station in Newark as a kid.

My favorite moment was when he credited Bruce Springsten with having invented ad-libs in "Glory Days." on some MTV Top 100.

The highs and lows of Nas have also been pretty extreme. More so than Wyclef even.

I agree with the Nas thing, but what confuses me most about Wyclef is his apparent inability to realise that what he's currently doing actually sounds awful. Sometimes it works, but more often than not it's him covering Tom Jones' "What's new pussycat" and adding even more "Whoas!!" into the chorus. The more i think about it, the more i'm suprised that people still let me produce records for them.

I think whereas Nas had (in my opinion) one strong debut album, then after getting a lot richer found it hard to follow it up due to a lack of being exposed to the subject matter that made him such a good rapper in the first place, Wyclefs work rarely represents matters such as poverty/drugs/etc. And if he does tackle it, it seems to be done in quite a light hearted way.. although that opinion seems to be quite flawed the more I think about it so i'm just going to post this anyway and let people point at me and snigger.

"Let me".. surely that should be "let him produce records for them." Good lord i've given away my secret, i'm Wyclef!

he doesn't even always rap. i mean, "if i were president" is one of his all time highlights for instance, not to mention mista mista.

him and lauryn need each other imho, to bad that boat has sailed. maybe he does better when there's some estrogen floating around in the studio? i like his verse on hips dont lie, party to damascus ft missy elliot, these are the songs that spring to mind as wyclef at his best
