It's true that I'm not much into new music, per se, even though there is still some good stuff being produced. After the early 90s "new music" as a term seemed to have been hijacked by a style (refered to as "rap") in which one standard tune was used for one standard lyrical formula (a string of "ho"s and "motherfucker"s stretched into lines with other words used at random to flesh it out) whose primary appeal was the legitimizing of profanity over the airwaves that promoted snearing, snarling, delivery of bad attitudes by hardened criminals--not that there's anything wrong with that necessarily, but music shouldn't be narrowly confined to only one small corner of life's cesspool.
