Bile: tuneless suckfest of sub-Marilyn Manson cliches or fucking awesome?

Bile, the mostly one-man-studio + sidemen industrial-metal project of an NYC guy named Kryzstof, has been fairly prolific in releasing music on his own label since the early 90's, with some success (soundtrack appearances, association with well known names in that scene) so here's a thread for it. If KMFDM gets one this band definitely needs one.

Plusses:

-First album Suckpump, pre-dates and dominates most of that nu-indoostrial-metal stuff that has been more well known (and mostly sucks major ass) like Rammstein, etc. that has come and gone. It's one of the very few (only?) in that style that I would call almost punk/garage rock, sound and attitude wise, and it seems to have been fairly DIY but got a great song on the soundtrack for the movie Mortal Kombat. Not a hint of cheese or techno foofoo there, it's real metal. The guitars are almost all one note but the drum programming and texture is so well done, it's actually very listenable and has a great sense of humor! Tons of cool samples (shrieking monkeys, witch laughter) mixed in very inventively, sounds like radio from hell not like some guy hitting buttons. Lyrics have always been the weakest point of any Bile I've heard but there's lots of great b-movieisms. ("I am the living dead/i see in infrared") and this one has the most rage-filled song that could ever exist about smoking pot. Points for the song "get out" sampling Amityville Horror.

-2nd album Teknowhore, not so good... same ingredients, way less focus, a touch of lame alt-rockism. I didn't get anything else until Demonic Electronic (they did a few other albums in between including a soundtrack for a porno they appeared in.) This one has the usual weak points but the good points have been growing on me, a lot. The cover of Alice Cooper's "Clone (I'm a)" makes up for any bad attempts at mixing in pop from before. The song "celebrity" is also great and takes Marilyn Manson's schtick and does it better with much more humor. ("sweet satan, please make me a big celebrity/sweet satan please give me my own record company") Also big points for the KMFDM-produced demos of their earliest songs.

-Interestingly I read an interview about them getting controversy for gay-bashing for projecting films of fisting while they played, which was actually the sincere preference of a guy in the live band (goes by last name Bear), cool, not what you might expect from such a band at first glance.

Minusses:

-on other albums, too many weak tracks of bad songwriting and/or ambient scary noises

-makeup that makes people refer to them as "like that band Slipknot"... bleh

I'm wanting more, any opinions.

Only band I can think of that was banned for a while from playing in Minneapolis. Hardcore gay porn played on huge video monitors for an all age show will do that, I guess.

I also seem to recall naked or nearly so female firebreathers. Or Something. It was a long time ago.

These guys shouldn't even be allowed to lick the boots of Rammstein.
