80s pop song melody "borrowed" by King Biscuit Time identification help!

Track 8 on Black Gold by King Biscuit Time half-inches a bit of melody and lyric from an 80s pop song, a very smooth piece of MOR sung by a man. It goes "and we'll forget about everything", the first two syllables rising and then the last seven falling (major-to-minor? I dunno).

I would love someone to be able to tell me which song it's from. I have a feeling it's something like Godley & Creme, only not them.
