VIA GRA from Russia!!!

nique (nique), Saturday, 20 May 2006 22:42 (twenty years ago)

Underworld for UK.

Don't the songs have to be less than three minutes long?

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 20 May 2006 22:52 (twenty years ago)

sydney youngblood deserves another chance.

danny invincible (michael w.), Saturday, 20 May 2006 22:56 (twenty years ago)

France Gal

cut the craaaaaaaaa?, Saturday, 20 May 2006 22:59 (twenty years ago)

Perhaps Belle & Sebastian could enter for the UK and all the twee huggers throughout Europe could vote for them like rock fans did with Lordi this year.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Saturday, 20 May 2006 23:25 (twenty years ago)

VIA GRA from Russia!!!

But they're Ukrainian! Vera is from Kharkov and the newest one (Olga?) is from Nikolaev.

pleased to mitya (mitya), Sunday, 21 May 2006 00:55 (twenty years ago)

Dunno if I'd exactly want them too, but with Kate Ryan and Las Ketchup participating this year, and Romania at #4 with a song in Romanian, I guess O-Zone will be the Romanian participants next year.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 21 May 2006 01:58 (twenty years ago)

Lordi deserved to win..Is this like Gwar winning a grammy?or have they?

dan bunnybrain (dan bunnybrain), Sunday, 21 May 2006 04:21 (twenty years ago)

heheh dEUS. wealready had telex!

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Sunday, 21 May 2006 06:47 (twenty years ago)

Varg Vikernes should be out of prison well before the next ESC, he would be perfect as Norway's entry. Preferably a nice hymn for a united, strong, Greater Europe.

Siegbran (eofor), Sunday, 21 May 2006 10:47 (twenty years ago)

A nice hymn for a united, strong German Europe, I guess you mean?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 21 May 2006 11:38 (twenty years ago)

Germanic, Arian, even.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 21 May 2006 11:38 (twenty years ago)

Haha. Maybe he's reformed...

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Sunday, 21 May 2006 11:41 (twenty years ago)

Mew for Denmark
Ulver for Norway

DJ Martian (djmartian), Sunday, 21 May 2006 12:17 (twenty years ago)

Colour Haze could represent Germany.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Sunday, 21 May 2006 12:41 (twenty years ago)

I guess O-Zone will be the Romanian participants next year

One of them was representing Moldova this year. That worked.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Sunday, 21 May 2006 12:44 (twenty years ago)

Sylvia Night should represent Iceland again.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Sunday, 21 May 2006 15:52 (twenty years ago)

My Bloody Valentine already have a strong ESC connection. Before MBV was formed, Kevin had the band Congress together with Liam O'Maonlai, who later formed Hothouse Flowers, who became "famous" after playing one of their tunes during the voting-break of the ESC.

I like the Underworld idea. A fifteen minute minimalist techno number would go down a storm.

Failing that, Squarepusher or Autechre.

chap who would dare to be a nerd, not a geek (chap), Sunday, 21 May 2006 21:30 (twenty years ago)

Imagine the aphex twin on eurovision!

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Sunday, 21 May 2006 21:31 (twenty years ago)

Neil Warnock.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 21 May 2006 21:39 (twenty years ago)

A fifteen minute minimalist techno number would go down a storm.

It wouldn't. It would have been disqualified. There is a three minute upper limit.

Just a few spoken words probably would have been enough to avoid getting disqualified for no lyrics though.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 21 May 2006 21:53 (twenty years ago)

Who would you like for a Norwegian entry, Geir?

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Sunday, 21 May 2006 23:06 (twenty years ago)

Bertine Zetlitz or Annie would have been great, even though I am afraid they would have been a little too "modern" for the Balkan mafia.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 21 May 2006 23:08 (twenty years ago)

Or, even better, Sondre Lerche!

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 21 May 2006 23:09 (twenty years ago)

I'd love to see Kent for Sweden btw (which will not happen, though, because they don't sound the slightest bit like ABBA)

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 21 May 2006 23:20 (twenty years ago)

Sandi Thom

"Real" artists don't generally want to join the contest, because it's considered a bit of a joke, right? Otherwise Iceland would've sent Björk years ago.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Monday, 22 May 2006 09:07 (twenty years ago)

Norway's next entry: RESPEKT FOR GRANDIOSA GOES EUROPE-WIDE.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 22 May 2006 09:21 (twenty years ago)

Apparently, Morrissey wants a go.
