Orbital, yes. Led Zeppelin, not really. The fourth album's title was those four symbols, wasn't it?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 22 May 2006 17:23 (nineteen years ago)

Diana Ross had two albums titled "Diana Ross" and two albums titled "Ross". Plus she had an album titled "Diana!" and the classic "Diana".

Richard Cobeen, Monday, 22 May 2006 17:25 (nineteen years ago)

I think the Grateful Dead put out albums with the titles "The Grateful Dead" & "Grateful Dead".

Chairman Doinel (Charles McCain), Monday, 22 May 2006 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

True re the Dead -- although one is commonly known as "Skull & Roses"

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 22 May 2006 21:52 (nineteen years ago)

Diana Ross had two albums titled "Diana Ross" and two albums titled "Ross". Plus she had an album titled "Diana!" and the classic "Diana".

LL Cool J's having a run at this variation too, with "Mr. Smith" and now "Todd Smith." Watch out for "James Todd Smith," dropping August 15th 2013!

Has anyone done this without the title being either eponymous or non-existent?

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 03:10 (nineteen years ago)

Chubby Checker comes amusingly close:

1962 Don't Knock The Twist
1962 For Teen Twisters Only
1962 For Twisters Only
1962 Let's Twist Again
1962 Twist With Chubby Checker
1962 Twistin' Round The World
1962 Your Twist Party
1963 Beach Party
1963 Limbo Party
1963 Let's Limbo Some More

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 05:27 (nineteen years ago)

Jack Battery-Pack (Jack Battery-Pack), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 05:30 (nineteen years ago)

What! Geir? You haven't mentioned Chicago in yr first post?

Or do 'number' editions not count?

(none had the number on the front, so I vote it in)

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 06:42 (nineteen years ago)

Of course they don't. There have never been two Chicago albums with the exact same title.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 09:02 (nineteen years ago)

No one's going to top Peter Gabriel. Weezer has those two self-titled ones though. And then you have things like Liquid Swords and Legends of the Liquid Sword or whatever, which seems likely to mainly just confuse people in a way that I don't think anyone's really confused about Led Zeppelin I versus III. (See also the two "Protect Ya Neck" tracks.)

Doctor Casino (Doctor Casino), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 16:38 (nineteen years ago)

The House of Love top Gabriel...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 17:41 (nineteen years ago)

more difficult version: Acts that have released at least two albums with the exact same album title, that aren't self-titled

a.b. (alanbanana), Tuesday, 23 May 2006 18:38 (nineteen years ago)

Acts that have released at least two albums with the exact same album title, that aren't self-titled

There may some acts out there with two different albums named, for instance, "Greatest Hits", "The Best Of", "Anthology" or "The Singles". :)
