I thought _Pop Musik_ was a Buggles song most of my life, until around 2003 I guess.

I heard _Time has come today_ by Chamber Bros. one time only , 'round '98 or '99, until recently, and during that time I just assumed it was the stooges. not that I thought about that song very often or anything.

link please if this thread have been done before

There was a song that was played as Muzak in my old place of employment. I always thought it was some also-ran 60s folk duo reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel. Last week I was listening to Radio 2 in the shower and the song came on, at the end the presenter named the artist: it was Gary Jules of X-mas-number-one-hit-wonder fame.

I thought "Back to life" was Bros, for a short while.

Have we done this?

I was absolutely convinced that "Lovefool" by The Cardigans was No Doubt back when it came out in the mid-90's.

right on, shorty...I still think I'm hearing No Doubt when that song is played on the radio...

Up until I was about 12, I thought Ron Wood was Keith Richards and vice-versa.

I also thought that "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" was by CCR and not the Hollies.

Misnamed Kazaa files had been the cause for many such discoveries, some of which are unfortunately rather embarrassing..

I love the way every novelty song on Kazaa is credited to Weird Al, as though he's the only musician in the universe who writes comedy songs.

I remember thinking a track on a Mickey Hart album was by Roger Daltrey! In the 70's, the guys on FM radio didn't always announce what was what.

for some utterly inexplicable reason, for a while i was under the impression that "you don't sparkle" by my life story was a solo glen matlock single

I thought Bette Midler sang "The Way We Were" up until last week.

Some drunk fuckwit thought I was the bassist from the Strokes when they first toured here.

I used to think the song "All I Need Is The Air That I Breathe" was sung by Air Supply, then found out it was the Hollies

I think about 75% of stuff played on Radio One at the moment is by either Coldplay or The Kaiser Chiefs.
