Austinites loved him not only for his talent with cannabis distribution ( http://www.blues.co.nz/news/article.php?id=96 ), but also because he was instrumental in bringing Austin to the international music stage ( http://www.news8austin.com/content/top_stories/default.asp?ArID=162591 ).

I saw many good shows at his club. Not so much blues in my case as jazz and funk, but why quibble?

There's also an excellent chance that some of the weed I smoked in those years came through his operation, too, so cheers again.

I should add that the night before Mr. Antone passed I bought tickets to see King's X at his club, this Saturday. I used to l-o-v-e KX, although I've admittedly grown so far away from that...

Actually, not sure why I'm "adding that." Perhaps it's the 10 or 12 beers I've added to my bloodstream since the original post...

After the memorial for him last night at the club, there's another one (planned with the city) at the Palmer Center on June 3rd.
