The thing Love Is All most remind me of remains the first, self-titled Psychedelic Furs album, in about a million ways.

I remember that Furs album well...Thats the one with "India" on it right? I think the sax on both is similar - very smoky if I recall correctly. Still going with X-Ray Specs but do love the Furs.

In any case, mentioning the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in Love Is All reviews is one of those small ways that journalists acknowledge that they may have readers who are young and new to music, or not-young but not deep into music, and who may be helped along by a really broad reference to a currently popular band to get a decent idea what they're reading about. They can go on about X-Ray Spex or Life Without Buildings in a second, but they toss in the YYYs just to make sure the whole class can follow along.

Nabisco, I did understand your point the first time and do actually speak and write in English (although maybe not as well as you would like). My point, and I suspect its a valid one (not sure I am going to pull out old style books) is that "like" can mean BOTH "intentionally derived from" and "similar to." You seem to think I only see it as "intentionally dervied from." Are we really having an argument about this? Why?
Bayond that I agree with everything you said. I think my point was that it is somewhat sad if people think YYYs because they hear girl punkish singer....You are certainly right that that might not be what people intend by the comparison.
I do actually agree with you,
