This is the only Wendys thread I could find. In theory, they were just a tiny bit below Northside as far as these things go, but still.
I had a great revisit with The Wendys in working out at the gym this week. Gobbledygook is a fun album to run to. I still actually do pull it out every 5 years or so.
I also ordered Sixfoot Wingspan this weekend, though I know it's much darker and more like a dark early Factory band than what they were like when they were baggying it up circa '91 (I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, I'm a Crispy Ambulance fan). I actually did see The Wendys live once back then, which I can't say about Northside. There weren't many people at this gig, but it was a milestone in my life nonetheless.
I'm also going to be the proud owner of the More Than Enough 12" promo Fac 280 soon.
Tony Wilson RIP, you're probably the only one who would have signed bands like this, and I love you for it and don't forget it. When I run on the treadmill at the gym during lunch hour and look out the window at the vast sea, I remember you.

I used to have a wendys t-shirt which went pink in the wash along with my ancient catholic education era TFC t-shirt.

I read title as "how can there be MORE Wendys records as that one was so awful I can't believe anyone would release anything else by them". Not that I think Gobbledygook is awful, cos I haven't heard it.

Goodness gracious, this Sixfoot Wingspan reunion album from 1999 is just...holy shit. I'm not so sure I've heard anything that good since the good old days if you know what I mean. It seems to me like they wanted to prove they could be an amalgamation of several different Manchester bands instead of the one style they had circa '91. Take a pinch of Joy Division, a pinch of Crispy Ambulance, a pinch of Happy Mondays, a pinch of Stone Roses...there's even a pinch of Martin Hannett in one song or two. I am truly shocked at what I'm hearing. It's certainly much darker than their debut, though, so you kindof have to get used to that.
I feel like Santa came to my house on Christmas morning and told me he had a present of a classic, long lost Factory record I had never heard before.
THEY EVEN DO A COVER OF CAN'S YOO DO RIGHT!

my boss who runs the mke rael estate game once tried to silently scold me by eating a triple whopper. it's not wendy's, but it hurts just as bad, if not more. i'm fasting, so i won't read this thread, because it might inspire me to consume something nasty, which would damage the integrity of my bodily fluids. ttyl

I love that lyric by John Cooper Clarke about the burger joint "where the meals thank god are skimpy/for you that's how the world could end/not with a bang but a Wimpy".
Message to yanks: Wimpy is the name of a fast food restaurant in England. I do not know if they are still in business or not, nor do I care.
