man, got me stumped. do you have an idea of what song he used it for?

based on the order of tracks as compared to that list posted on the dj premier thread (this is track 3 from primo's bakery) i think it was used for bahamadia's "true honey buns", but in an extremely brief snippet.

do you know which track he used for jeru the damaja's 'whatever'? i've been trying to figure that out too.

note to mods: don't delete the ysi link, because it's not entire songs, just amazon.com-esque samples.

yeah i'm gonna go digging around on that one.

i'm guessing the track in question is late 70s/early 80s? i dunno.

man, it's really a weird song trying to find out the time period. it doesn't really sound like any of the 80s soul i listen to. not enough synths or drum machines. it honestly sounds like 90s/00s neo-soul stuff. like d'angelo or something. i'm guessing mid 70s because of the synth and the rhodes.

i can tell you the song right before it :(

it's bugging me the fuck out because it's a pretty smooth fucking track, based on the twenty second sample

yeah i know that one xpost : (

this is extremely frustrating. i probably already own the fucking thing, that'll be the ridiculous outcome.

I'm in the UK, so I could try dialling 2580 on my mobile... which will identify anything that has been released on CD in the UK. I'll do that now.

i justlooked up that service. it sounds brilliant!

gear (gear), Sunday, 28 May 2006 20:57 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah but it didn't seem to know this time. Although there was a lot of feedback when I tried, so I'll try it again sometime with no feedback and more battery in my phone....

Actually, to me it sounds a lot like Sade.
