Wireless Guitar Systems in Stop Making Sense?

My fren and i just watched Talking Head's classic concert film "Stop Making Sense." We noticed that the guitars in the show didn't connect to amps(except for Byrne's electric guitar).
i assumed that they were using wireless guitar system, while my pal didn't believe that there had been such technology back in 1984. He thought they recorded the guitar performance in advance.
Gee... It's Talking Heads we were talking abt! They played a live show, then it's live! Am i right abt it?
i really need some comments on this. Thx anyone who helps me out.

Seeing as it's such a famous film, I think it would be quite notorious if it turned out to not be a bonafide live performance.

Listening to 'Girlfriend is Better' off SMS now, and damn it's tight, it does sound like a studio recording. I'll put that down to amazing musicianship, though.

sure the stones and others had wireless guitars in the 70s so think its a pretty credible performance.

I think it's a little from column A, a little from column B. Wireless packs for the guitars, but also plenty of post-performance fixing.
