More Kurt Cobain Crap

Penguin Pub. just bought Kurt Cobain's diary for appx. $4,000,000. Of course, they are going to publish it. Everyone is getting grabby about Mr. Cobain's belongings. How do you all feel about this?

― Lindsey B, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Glad I don't work in a bookshop any more.

― Tom, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ditto.

― Lindsey B, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

So who sold them, anyway? La Court?

― Ned Raggett, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It was actually his mother who sold them, but I'm sure the Nirvanatards will complain that Courtney is Satan incarnate for selling them anyway.

I mean, look how they sold Kenneth Williams out by publishing his diaries....

― Judd Nelson, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The diaries didn't really sell for that much. The figure was significantly inflated by Penguin publicists to generate hype. I will probably buy the book, but I have a feeling that the most interesting bits are already in Heavier Than Heaven.

i was about to say, i hope they don't think they're actually going to make more than four million in profit off that.

― ethan, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What about the BOX SET, you Geffen / Universal / CLove doofs?

― Daver, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

has anyone heard that little album that came out recently that was made up of little fragments of his dictaphone messages?

― Wyndham Earl, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yawn.

― Alex in NYC, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Alex, you'd best HONOUR THE FIRE!

― Daver, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Kurt didn't honor the fire (by ripping off the riff from Killing Joke's "Eighties") and look what happened to him.

That Killing Joke ripped said riff off from the Damned's "Life Goes On" is *NOT* admissable evidence.

I've no doubt he had it many a time while he was still alive

― electric sound of jim, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I dunno, Courtney doesn't look like she has that anal glint.

― Judd Nelson, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh, she's got the glint alright.

― electric sound of jim, Monday, 18 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Now *THERE's* a band name for you: ANAL GLINT

one year passes...

Oh yay more stuff about Kurt Cobain let's continue to milk his rotting corpse for all it's worth. I bet there are actually discussions on how his suicide added market value to the Nirvana brand.

That is pretty amazing. "And I Love Her" is such a proto-Nirvana song.

Bit fed up with the adjective "chilling" being ascribed to everything single thing Cobain did.

I'm surprised "Cross-genre 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' appropriations" doesn't have its own thread yet

eleven months pass...

if legendary grunge rocker Kurt Cobain were alive today, he would be ________________.

+ vegan
+ still in Seattle
+ remarried to the girl from Deerhoof
+ conspicuously absent from David Bowie tribute things
+ getting up there in years

― del griffith, Wednesday, 6 April 2016 05:05 (ten years ago)

Kurt would be a judge on The Voice and have a column in Entertainment Weekly a la Stephen King.

Isn't this one of the guys from Nickelback?

― del griffith, Wednesday, 6 April 2016 14:36 (ten years ago)

Ah, right. He does wear those shirts with the weird loop thing for the top button.
