has anyone read varg's essays on the burzum site? they're fucking hilarious. he tries really hard to make himself and his wacked-out racist philosophy come across as calm and reasonable, but every so often the mask of "sanity" slips and he offhandedly says something utterly bonkers, or suddenly out of nowhere he'll goes on a tangent about this or that.

anyway, though g.g. wrote some great songs i'm gonna have to side with varg on this one. his music is much better and at least his personal beliefs are full of a kind of romantically idiotic grandiosity. and it's fun to read interviews with him over the years and watch his justifications for his actions and personal history change as it suits said beliefs.

GG Allin is obviously the better performer, but musically this is no contest.

FWIW, Varg should be out soon (next month I believe?) and in a recent interview said he was planning to record a new album in the style of Filosofem, so that presumably means guitars, drums and vocals are back.
