Songs what reference the Northern Line, like

sorry London-hatorz..

Ah, the Misery Line. It may be shit at times, and always seems to face 'planned engineering works' (sounds like an unreleased Aphex Twin album) but it's dead convenient and that, and I miss it now I'm on the Piccadilly.

Not only that, but you hear it in songs all the time.

I have already thought of a few but will start off with:

"Mornington Crescent" - Belle and Sebastian

"Archway People"
and
"London Belongs To Me" - Saint Etienne

"Take a tube to Camden Town, walk down Parkway and settle down."

darren (darren), Thursday, 1 June 2006 21:37 (nineteen years ago)

And for good measure, how about:

"London" - the Smiths

"Train heave on to Euston..." (well, one would imagine he'd head for the NL after disembarking from the Manchester-London train, were he to actually catch it)

darren (darren), Thursday, 1 June 2006 21:41 (nineteen years ago)

"Northern Line" by OPAL (first release under that name and not CLAY ALLISON, 12" from 1985) is probably not about it but it'd work on a mix or something right?

Michael J McGonigal (mike mcgonigal), Thursday, 1 June 2006 21:43 (nineteen years ago)

"Love On The Northern Line" by Northern Line.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 1 June 2006 21:43 (nineteen years ago)

Saint Etienne again, Mario's Cafe, says something about Kentish Town. Squeeze, Up The Junction kind of mentions Clapham Common.

Teh HoBBercraft (the pirate king), Thursday, 1 June 2006 21:47 (nineteen years ago)

Nick Drake, Parasite:

Lifting the mask from from a local clown
Feeling down like him
Seeing the light in a station bar
And travelling far in sin
Sailing downstairs to the northern line
Watching the shine of the shoes
And hearing the trial of the people there
Who's to care if they lose.
And take a look you may see me on the ground
For I am the parasite of this town.

And I'm somewhere round the Tottenham Court Road."
